Pregnancy Bra Measuring Recommendations Please!

Hi, I was hoping to pick your collective brains, if I may. I need to get some soft cup pregnancy bras, and wanted to know the best place to get measured. I'm in Bristol, so within fairly easy reach of most department stores, etc.

So, whose measuring service would you recommend, and as importantly, whose should I avoid?

Thank you!

In my first pregnancy I bought a maternity bra from M&S but didn't get measured, just tried and bought the one I thought was right, it didn't really do anything for me yet I can't say don't go to them as I didn't get measured so maybe if I had it would have been different.

This time I went to Mothercare and got measured and the lady brought several styles and brands to try, I chose and bought a 2 pack of 'blooming marvelous' bras that fit beautifully and are so supportive and comfortable and as a bonus were half price at the time so def recommended them.

I went to am independent old fashioned type local shop.. Think granny nighties... Got the right measurement, bought one and then went to Debenhams to get pretty ones.

The marks and sparks one was no good really. Love the Debenhams ones.. Much nicer shape.

I went to Bravissimo. This was mainly because I found maternity bras SO depressingly revolting that I needed some options that didn't make me sad. FWIW, their measuring matched House of Fraser's pretty much exactly.

I have been wearing underwired bras up until about 34 weeks, but I've just bought a bravado nursing bra, and it is pretty much the most comfortable thing I've ever bought. The sizing is S, M, L, so allows for a bit of growth too.

Another vote for bravissimo. Their fitters were excellent and as callamia says, the choice isn't depressing. (I am wearing underwired, for what it's worth, but they also have a good selection of soft cup bras too for after the baby is born.) There isn't a branch in Bristol I don't think, but Cardiff has one if that's not too far.

Come to bravissimo in Cardiff - its well worth the trip!

I third Bravissimo! I went to get fitted in mothercare but I dont think they did it properly. Ive always been E cup and boobs definately bigger, they measured me into a D bra which wasn't right but she was adament. So I made the trip to Bravissimo as they are more specialist and was measured into an F. John Lewis might be worth a go if you have one in Bristol?

Many thanks ladies!

Hearing good things about mothercare (mostly), debenhams and bravissimo. Unfortunately I can't really justify the train fare to Cardiff for a couple of bras, so might try getting measured in house of Fraser if their sizing is the same, then buying online.

I got measured in Debenhams and they were really helpful. The bras are really comfy and fairly pretty too.

I'm in Brizzle and just got back from a Cardiff Bravissimo bra trip yesterday. Would thoroughly recommend. Train fair is £11.80 return and the shop is a five/ten min walk from the station.

I got measured in mothercare, tried on a bra in that size, assistant said it fitted, i thought it was a bit big but she said "room to grow". Load of crap...totally unsupportive on the boobs and I haven't even grown much since I bought it so its still massive. Went to m and s and got fitted properly by a lovely lady (who was horrified when she saw the mothercare fitted bra!), bought two plain but comfy bras, and still happy with them.

I hate buying bras though, as the sizes aren't even the same in the same shop, so go to a store with a large range, and make sure you have plenty of time so you don't rush into buying an ill fitting one

For a maternity bra, you can just buy a normal bra which isn't underwired, but make sure its suppotive. For nursing you're better off getting an "easy access" one, not just if you are breastfeeding, but handy for changing breast pads when you have a leakage!

Your boobs might change size a few times...so don't spend too much money!

Bravissimo do do telephone fittings and advice for theirsil order bras. If not comfortable you can return
