Am now almost 17 weeks and am more sick and tired now than I was during first trimester :( Dr has given me cyclizine which helps a bit but makes me even more knackered I'm still good for nothing!
Anybody else been through this? This is dc3 for me and both other pregnancies, sickness and tiredness has all gone by 12 weeks. They are both girls and I know this one is a boy so am blaming it entirely on that Grin
Dd2 is just 13 months so being this incapacitated is really a strain.
Any suggestions? Ginger makes me feel more sick, peppermint tea helps a little and i'm drinking it a lot! the band things really irritate my wrists so a no go. I don't know anything else to try.

Marmite on toast helped me, but sickness (I was hospitalised with hyperemisis several times in both pg) was gone by 17 weeks in both pg.

Have you come across Pregnancy Sickness Support?

I'm 33 weeks and still sick on and off.I found, strangely, that stodgy carbs like crusty bread and dense cake helps - perhaps it absorbs excess stomach acid? Hopefully hours will not last as long as mine! I'm having a boy too!

I'm 17 weeks and feeling better than first trimester but still have a few days every week when I throw up every half hour for hours. I only take cyclizine on those days, basically to stop myself getting dehydrated, but the rest of the time I still throw up at least once or twice a day, feel low level nausea most of the day and feel exhausted and unable to really do anything.

It's bloody miserable and I'm not sure that what works for one person will work for another, but a few things that have helped me are:

Eating at least every three hours
Eating peanut butter toast before I get out of bed in the morning (thanks DH) and then, when I get up, having a HUGE bowl of granola
Going to bed on a full stomach
Rice pudding as an afternoon snack
I can eat some fruit - grapes, apples, melon, banana - but berries make me feel dreadful

Of course, on the really bad days, none of these things work a jot.

Oh, and I'm having a girl!

I was sick with ds for almost 20 weeks, I find eating little and often helps and favoured mashed and jacket potatoes, sometimes without much else! You can get cheese oatcakes which are less boring than the plain ones but still dry. I also read sipping iced lemonade was good and found a straw useful to slow the sips down. Iced lollies became part of my essential every day a bit later but I think this was beyond 20 weeks?

Hummus and toast morning noon and night is what got me through. Plenty of sleep.

Hang in there, honey.

38 +5 here and still sick everyday Confused I have found that certain foods make it worse so avoid those and to eat whatever I can whenever I feel hungry. I realise that's not very comforting Wink but I have had good and bad weeks throughout so hopefully you will feel better soon.

No advice but sympathies, is grim. My sickness passed around your stage both times so fingers crossed. It's grim

undertheboredwalk · 30/08/2013 08:57

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try all suggestions and keep everything crossed that something works!
Am so fed up of feeling horrible Hmm

40+6 and still sick everyday - little tyke!
I don't have any other children so have one less thing to worry about.
I didn't find anything traditional like ginger etc worked and didn't continue to take the anti sickness tablets I was given. They didn't 'cure' me so there wasn't really any point for me. Also, I'm glad I didn't come to rely on them as I may still be on them 33 weeks later!

I find lemonade with ice great for staying hydrated - recommended by doctor as I was struggling with any other fluids. Still can't keep anything else down drink wise!
I also liked peanut butter - just ate it off the spoon on my worst days. Crumpets were good initially too. My best advice is to try to eat a small amount of anything you fancy - doughnuts, marshmallows, pringles, choc ices, lemon lollies watermelon, digestives have all been my safe foods at some point - and increase the amounts if it stays in! My doctor said not to worry too much about nutrition whilst I was most sick - it was more important to eat something. Once it settled down I was able to widen what I could eat and add more fruit, veg etc.

I really hope you feel better soon

Still low level nausea and exhaustion at 28 weeks. Also DC3. Felt ok by 18 weeks with first, 13 weeks with second. Two boys. This is a girl! I think it's the tiredness of having two others that is making me worse this time. Feel your pain. Flowers

misskatamari · 31/08/2013 09:17

Acupuncture really helped me feel less awful. Plus eating constantly when I wasn't puking. Sorry you're still feeling so awful, it's horrible Hmm
