Changing bags, Storksak, Pink Lining or something else?

I need to get a changing bag and would like one with several pockets/compartments, maybe that zip up, that isn't too traditionally changing bag like and will look ok to carry with a sling as well as go over the pram handle and preferably is under or around £50, although that's a bit flexible. It also needs to be big enough to put cloth nappies in when out and about.

John Lewis have the Storksak Olivia in the sale at the moment and it appeals to me as do some of the Pink Lining Bags, although not the 'Yummy Mummy' ones. They have a few on sale at the moment too. My main worry with the Pink Lining bags are that they could look grubby very fast as they seem to be canvas type fabric.

If anyone has either or something else, I'd love to hear your opinions on them.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone!

I don't even like bags usually, but now I'm yearning after a lovely (expensive!) leather bag. Oh dear.... I can't face shopping for a handbag I don't think and I like the idea of a shoulder strap, so not sure if get one of those with a handbag as opposed to changing bag anyway.

I may take myself off to John Lewis today to look at the Storksaks, pink lining (although really not so keen after reading this thread) and packapods.

I had looked at the Mothercare messenger bag too actually, but I think I want something a bit nicer to look at. Although I may change my mind anyway.

DH is going to be stuck with DD's old changing bag, which is slightly tatty but functional, but I have always hated. (It's a mamas and papas one that DH wanted as it matched our pram)

I have a gorgeous soft leather oioi and it's been lovely, but I do sometimes think a wipe clean outer would have been more practical. It is constantly getting milk, sick, juice, sticky fingers on it, and taking it out in the rain is also quite impractical. I finally cleaned it with proper leather cleaner yesterday though and it came up almost like new again so I guess it's fine really. I also love that it doesn't look like a changing bag.

Marking my place to look at these bags later Smile

I started off with the freebie Boots one then changed over to a generic hold all type bag. After a few months I went back to the free one! I have been lusting after a Radley one though!

I would love something quite girly but DP is going to carry it around a fair bit as well and he wants something more masculin and I'm not going to discourage him from actually taking care of the baby

So after searching long and hard we're going for a Lassig bag. We saw them on holiday on the continent earlier this month; it's a German make (laessig-fashion.com/products/laessig/4family/casual/). They look really great quality and very good value. Bit hard to find in the UK although Mamas & Papas do a couple: www.mamasandpapas.com/product-lssig-multizip-mama-bag/1122d2900/type-i/

Wanted this one but I can only find it on Amazon in the UK and the price is 40% higher than in Belgium so I might just ask my dad to buy it over there and bring it with him when he next visits.

I really like the look of the Storksak Elizabeth (spotted it before in John Lewis) but there's no way I can justify the price and it's not manly enough for DP

I went to have a look this morning and I was surprised that I liked the Pink Lining bags the most. Although they didn't have many Storksak bags in. It just seemed to be the most practical in terms of pockets, size etc. and most of the outer seems to be wipeable at least.

They had a 'Blooming Gorgeous' pansies one in the sale, but I couldn't make a decision, so took a photo to send to DH to see if he liked it and came home. Then I wished I had brought it.... typical!

Anyway, DH has taken some time of work and dreadfully abused the facility of a work driver to go and buy it for me as a surprise. Grin He doesn't 'do' suprises and it's made me cry a bit too. In a good way of course! He even says he will carry it. Grin

So, the decision is made.

OOOH that's pretty! Was that in John Lewis? I have a voucher that might just get used tonight if so!

Fifi2406 · 27/08/2013 16:41

I had a Cath Kidston one, was good at the start and I liked the look of it but the lining soon split around the stitching and bits of foam were always being fished out my DS's mouth!! I wouldn't get one again! A rucksack with a side pocket for a bottle/sippy cup would do the job better IMO
