Found out I am pregnant with DC3 today, have DD1 aged 3 and DD2 aged 2.

Planned for, but still in shock. And very early so I can't tell anyone yet!

Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

I am flummoxed, and yet you would think I had got the hang of it by now wouldn't you Grin

Luckily the car is ok though.

Hi all I'm 28 weeks with DC3 a girl. Have two boys aged just 5 and 3 . Hats off to you with tiddlers! I could NOT have coped ! Found a 24 month gap hard enough! Been ill, and I mean ill the whole way through, three hospital admissions, weeks in bed and two stone lost with Hyperemesis. Nauseous most of day now, allergic reactions and currently a bad cold and sore throat. Ready for the knackers yard me ! Excited but nervous of school runs, bring snappy and tired , not being able to give them enough individual attention. Cannot wait to not be pregnant and ill though. It's the worst!

BreasticlesNTesticles I'm certainly hoping doubling the age gap will help! I think 3 under 5 will be easier than 2 under 2.

Everyone told us that the 2nd would be more chilled out but ds2 is anything but - he is one highly strung little chap that has taken up so much of our attention for the past 2 years. The main problem has been that he's a breath holder to the point of passing out and the occasional reflex seizure. Recently he's got a lot better and we don't have half as many breath holding incidents so I think I'm ready to add another baby to the mix (I hope!).

Anyone else going to stick with the cars they've got? We've got an old bmw 5 series with 3 full seatbelts in the back and both our older ones can go in group 2 car seats so hoping we can fit 3 car seats across the back of DH car?! I'm a bit worried as I doubt we can afford a 7 seater between now and march. I know a friend that manages to fit 3 across the back of a ford mondeo which I can't imagine is any roomier than what we've got.

Unless we have a girl I think we've pretty much got all the equipment we need for dc3 - just hope they like hand me downs lol!

We've had a to get a bigger car as have an ancient Audi a4 but no way you can fit three across back in it. Gone for a Peugeot 5008 which apparently won what car of the year 2013 and has excellent fuel consumption.been a nightmare trying to find something we could afford/ fit/ DH liked!

I couldn't get my 2 teens and a first size baby seat comfortably in the back of a Mondeo today, if that helps?

hyper that's the car my DH wants! Have you been more nauseous with this pregnancy? I have one of each so far and was much worse with the girl pregnancy.

Yes I've been in hospital three times with severe dehydration and with my boys I felt fine by about 18 weeks but still feel rough at 28 weeks this time. It's hard going having girls !!!

I have a friend who has only had 2 dc as she suffered so badly, it's awful.

Toby DH has that car and they are great, really comfy to drive and a massive boot.

im trying to sell my 4x4 Volvo xc90 as I can't fit 3 proper seats in the back and on the top of that it's eating me out of my monthly budget. i have been researching s-max and the fuel consumption seems great even around town the past 2010 models so i think we will go for that. well more like i will go for that one. dp will probably not drive it as he is too much of a snob Smile. anyone out there with s-max or touran?

TobyLerone · 26/08/2013 20:57

I test drove an S-Max today. I really didn't want one. I wanted a 7-seat 4x4, but have really struggled to find one in my price range it's basically the Kia Sorento and the Qashqai+2. The Qashqai+2 is like hens' teeth around here I've been waiting for the dealer to get one in for me to look at for over a month. They keep emailing me promising there will be one soon, but nothing yet. And the Kia only seems to be stocked anywhere in automatic, which I don't want. If I want a manual, I'll have to order one from the manufacturer, which will take 12 weeks. That's cutting it a bit too fine.

So anyway, back to the S-Max, it was everything I didn't want. But then I had a proper look at it and it's actually great. The middle row of seats are proper full-size seats and apparently very comfortable (according to DH). The back seats fold flat individually. It was surprisingly lovely to drive. Nothing startling or exciting, as you'd expect from a 1.7l diesel, but lovely and smooth and quite quiet.

I'm 12 weeks with dc3 too. Have dd 4 and ds 2. Scared, feeling generally crappy and nervous about what my work and colleagues are going to say.
Can't cope with my 2 sometimes. But also very much wanted and when I allow myself to get excited, it does feel good.

We looked at Volvo xc90 but decided fuel consumption was awful. DH refused S max even though I thought it was great. We also looked at touran but rejected it in favour of peugeot 5008. Also has three full seats in second row and back seats fold individually. Its a nice car for a 7 seater which i was really anti having as felt thry were all so huge. Yes I was on three types of medication until about 20 weeks but all made me very groggy so stopped them when I could as needed to function!

thanks Tobylerone yes i agree with all that. that's exactly how i feel about it. it's not an exciting car to drive but for me it feels lovely and more down to earth after my xc90 which i only bought as i got pressured into. yet it has all the lovely space i need and i was expecially surprised by the space between 1st and 2nd row and the fact that i'll be saving loads of money makes me want it even more Smile it pains me every time i sit in my Volvo and think it's going to cost me £5 just to get to the shop and back.
all i need now is someone to buy my car but it doesn't seem like a good time to sell a 4x4 Sad

Hyper your sickness sounds awful hope you get some relief from it soon!

Well all we can do on the car front is hope we can fit 3 across the back as we just won't have the money to buy another car unless DH gets a bonus this year and even then we have other stuff to buy.

Its all making me think we must be mad to be expanding our family past the normal 2 children size, no longer able to get family passes, being outnumbered, potentially needing a bigger car and so on - defiantly lost the plot!

Mine's an s-max and I love it! Grin still find it a bit too big to park; haven't scratched or dented it yet (touch wood!!) but don't feel like I have a handle on its size really, if that makes sense?! Worry about parking it sometimes if I can't find a parent and toddler space.

Hyper- sickness sounds horrible Sad I felt hideous in first trimester but luckily no actual sickness.

FWIW I'm mega jealous of the XC90! The fuel consumption and ridiculous tax costs just make it a stupid purchase for us, so sadly I'm going to be stuck with a mum-mobile :(

I currently drive one of these, so I am actually devastated to have to trade it in for a dullsville MPV :(

BlackholesAndRevelations · 26/08/2013 22:18

Clearly I'm not that into cars then! As long as it's comfortable to drive and sit in, not expensive to run, and good for the kids, I'm happy! Grin

I'm not even particularly into cars. I have just enjoyed having something a bit different. A tiny bit of my heart will die when I have to trade it in for something the same as every 3rd car on the road.

I should probably grow up.

Me too! Planned for but still a shock. We have DD (5) and DS (2). This is my seventh pregnancy, though, so I am not getting too excited. Once I'm through the first trimester we'll start to tell people/celebrate.

Hi. I'm 11 weeks with dc3. I have ds 5 and dd 3. I'm still feeling nauseous and not sleeping well. Last night was particularly bad and I have to look after 5 children today. No, I'm not a childminder, I just agreed to do some favours for friends.

As for the car, I don't drive but dh has a skoda Octavia vrs which probably won't fit 3 across the back. Such a pain, we can't afford to buy a new car so I'm not sure what we will do about that.

Me too, found out at 12 weeks pregnant, now 18 weeks, due end of Jan :)

Waves to Sarahleanne and Toby. Toby, you definitely win the prize for biggest age gap so far, was dc3 planned or a surprise, can't remember?

I also have a 4 year old dd starting school and an 18 month old dd who keeps me on my toes.

Two weeks until we find out whether we are having another girl or a boy.

I am hoping a double buggy and shoving the baby into a snowsuit in their sleepsuit will help with the school run. I just know dd2 will poo just before we have to leave and the baby will probably want to feed as soon as we are out of the door (I plan on breastfeeding on the run using a wrap sling if need be).

Hi another :o

DC3 was planned. I blame my sister. When I met DH (2nd marriage) 3 years ago, he didn't want children. I was fine with this, given that I already have two.
Then my sister had a baby in 2011. DH immediately fell head over heels in love with him and suddenly did a huge about-turn.

So here we are! :o
