Homebirth with a high bmi?

I'm now 10wks with dc no3 and had two straight forward labours with both boys. I have a high bmi though of over 40. I spoke to the midwife at my initial booking in appt and she said I need to get the consultant on board with a home birth and if so the community midwives would support it.

Backstory - With ds2 despite me telling them I was having intense contractions with lots of pressure they made me go to the ward as I was only 3cm. It was late so to stop DH having to go home we went for a walk I progressed to 10cms within an hour and a half and pushed for about 3 minutes - I nearly had ds2 in the late night deli or on the way back to the ward luckily they managed to rush me to a private room just in time! So although I have a high bmi I was barely monitored throughout that labour and only examined once. Also I found going to hospital stresses me out and slows my labour down.

So is has anyone managed to convince their consultant to let them have a home birth despite being considered high risk due to bmi? Also I've moved area so they don't have access to my previous medical records so I'm considering requesting my previous notes at a £50 cost to prove I've had low blood pressure, passed the GTT both times and had straight forward labours (especially ds2 to back up how quickly I progressed). Do you think that would help or just be a waste of money? Thanks in advance.

I don't think they can stop you to be honest. It might help to get a supportive midwife on board, but it's not about them "letting" you, it's your choice.

Good luck Smile

Thanks I think I might need the luck!

I know they can't stop me effectively and they have a duty of care, I'd just rather have them on board if I can. I just know I'll be more relaxed at home. Also as we've moved area away from family we have no childcare so I'm concerned that dh may miss the birth if I go to hospital. I'm fairly determined but I know there's a few risks so kind of looking for some stories of people having already done it.
