Double buggy for toddler and newborn.

Dd will be 2 yrs 2 months when dc2 is born. I am looking for a double buggy and just want some advice from anyone more knowledgeable than me. I don't want to spend a fortune (some are coming up as over £1000) but would like one where a maxi cosi car seat can be used for newborn.

Does anyone have any ideas? I don't mind back/ front or side by side although obviously the narrower the better.

Hi, try posting in products section, there is a thread for pushchairs and ladies over there have a vast knowledge!! I am going to have a 17 month gap and have just purchased a bugaboo donkey, not sure I would have done with a gap of over 2 years as it was expensive and may not of got enough use out of it to justify the cost!!

I have a Phil & Teds which you can buy a Maxi Cosi adaptor for. Is being used by DS3 so we've had our money's worth! No issues with it at all.

I was expecting similar age gap to this but sadly miscarried (pregnant again and will have 3 year age gap so not getting a double). I'd narrowed our choice down to either Smyths Dimples Duo (around £250) or Baby Jogger City Select (around £600). Agree though, excellent advice in the prams section - that's how I chose which ones I wanted!

I have a baby jogger city select, am using it in single mode with DS 16m and am 17w with baby 2 so can't comment fully on it as a double but we live it as a single, whatever you choose be sure to shop around and join the relevant fb page as you can get second hand city selects for reasonable prices, good luck choosing and enjoy pram shopping, it's my fave part Grin

I've invested in a Britax BDual (baby due any day and there will be a 15 month gap). I think you can get adaptors to fit Maxi Cosi though.

Alternatively how about a baby jogger city mini double? You can get a carrycot for the baby and they definitely have adaptors for Maxi Cosi. I loved my BJCM single but couldn't get a side-by-side comfortably through my front door (which is why I went for the Britax)

Try the mountain buggy duet. It really is fab.

We have a 21 months gap between our two and my Son is now 15 weeks.

We invested in a double buggy - the Britax B-Dual but found that we don't use it half as much as we wanted to - Daughter either walks or Little Man goes in our sling - the sling is an absolute lifesaver with 2!

Because of this we've just invested in the new Graco Sky single pushchair and it's so much easier using it along with the sling or with my Daughter walking than it was using the double.

If you could manage with a double for a few months it would definitely save you some money - wish we'd stuck with the single one!

I have a city mini double. I love it, but have to think about where I am taking it as its a little wider than the others. Had to choose this one as ds was too tall for Phil and teds and the other narrower buggies. He is only two, but very tall. Grin

Agree with above that it is often easier to use sling and put toddler in single buggy. If I am out, I can lay newborn in buggy while toddler eats, runs about at soft play etc.

P.s. if you're near edinburgh and want to buy a second hand p&t give me a shout. Moral of the story: try before you buy! :)

I have a phil and teds dot with a 16 month age gap. I also use it as a travel system with a maxi cosi and the oldest on the second seat, its great for nipping round the shops in that set up. It is also very narrow and have had no problems getting round in shops/ cafes etc. Also easy to push with one hand when the older one wants to walk

I have the Baby Jogger City Select and love it. I have a 17 month age gap between DD1 and the DTs, but as soon as DD1 was old enough, she used the buggy board while DTs used the seats. Then, once the DTs were 2, they started using the buggy board, too, so I have used it for newborns, toddlers and every mix in between (DH would sometimes give shoulder rides so its been a total mix as to who sits or stands where). I can't praise it highly enough for its durability and flexibility. It goes on buses, trains, cabs and around the shops. You can add and remove seats very easily, so it's a single or double, with no real effort.
