Has anyone ever used or even heard of nimble diagnostics or any other company doing early gender detection from maternal blood?

As the title says really. They claim to be able to isolate the baby's DNA from the mothers as early as 7wks post ovulation and give you an accurate determination on the gender.

Can science do this now or is this a scam? I have 2 of each already and have never found out before the birth with the others but this time I have a deep longing to know ASAP.

Any info gratefully received.

I had the iona nipt test done at 12 weeks. It's the NHS chosen provider in our region for nipt.

The midwife took a typical sized vial of blood with preservatives in, and it was sent off to the lab in Manchester in a special biohazard package. The results took just under a week.

I researched beforehand, and the earliest nipt test can be done at 9 weeks pregnant (I think this could be the harmony one) but it needs to be sent off to the US. That also requires a full blood draw.

I would be very sceptical of any kind of fetal dna test that just required a blood spot. Also £200 seems very low for this type of test. Ours cost £400, and the earlier you go, the more expensive it is.

I had the Ultrasound Direct version of the Harmony Test. It included an ultrasound scan, but also a DNA test for genetic anomalies and an option to find out the sex (this was at 12 weeks) with 99% accuracy.

Highly recommend it - results came back within a week and when we had the 20 week scan, it was indeed a boy as predicted!

Not cheap at £395 but worth it.
