Relaxation advice needed!

This is my first time posting a message, so please tolerate me if you've had this discussion many times before!!

Can anyone recommend a good relaxation tape/cd for use during pregnancy? I've tried one, and although it was useful it started off by saying "remember you're a mammal", which immediately put the "remember you're a womble" song into my head, making relaxation impossible!!

Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm currently 28 weeks and beginning to get uncomfortable!!

I didn't get any relaxation tapes but I used to have baths with candles lit around it playing Enya which always used to relax me. A friend recommended a flotation tank as well but as I'm claustrophobic I took one look and ran!

Thanks Selja - I hadn't thought about flotation tanks - I had a few sessions a couple of years ago and loved it, so maybe I will investigate that again. I can't imagine even the most salty water supporting my weight at the moment though!! If you're in travelling distance of London there's a really good place at Clapham Common (or at least there used to be) where the tank was more like a room, and wasn't too claustrophobic.

I think I'd be a danger to myself relaxing in the bath though as I'd be asleep in two seconds flat!!

Kyliebump - I go to relaxation classes every week and we use any soft instrumental music. Flute or soft piano can be especially good - Enya as Selja recommended.

I often find a good selection in the arty/crafty type shops - 'Hippy' shops as my mother would say!

Flotation tank - what a fantastic idea. Today as I was lying in my third bath of the day ( okay it was the middle of the night) I was thinking how nice it would be to be in a really deep bath where I could float, but a flotation tank is exactly the feeling I have in mind.
How on earth do you find one in your area?
I am in the west of scotland, easy travelling distance to Glasgow. Anyone able to help?

Incidentally so I can have as deep a bath as possible I have plugged up the overflow with blu-tac so at least the water covers my tummy.

Also on this topic, thinking a massage might help I got one recently where you sit leaning forward on a special chair, head down. Initially very comfy but five minutes into it I felt suddenly nauseous and faint and had to leap off the chair and lie dowm on the cold floor. The therapist was mortified. He has only just started up in business! I was very embarrassed.

I used to go to pregnancy yoga classes. If you're in London the Active birth Centre runs them, they also have a shop with books and tapes on the subject (and on natural pregnancy and childbirth). They also have a web site: www.activebirthcentre.co.uk

good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and enjoy it!!!! (it was the most blissfull 9 months of my life)
