Help me get over the fear of going on holiday...

I'm being ridiculously anxious I know but I will be 6 months pregnant when my partner and I are driving to France for a weeks break. I'm already feeling like I want to be safely cocooned at home and the thought of all that driving, eating out (potential food poisoning etc) and not being near all my local midwife/hospital facilities should-anything-go-wrong is doing my head in.

Please can someone slap me round the face and tell me not to be so silly. Its France for goodness sake (but really, I would like to cancel but it would be v.unfair on work stressed partner)!

Go and have a great time. It's so important to have one last baby free break together. We did and it was such a happy holiday. We spent the days talking about our future and how excited we were and also how much we wanted to go back with little person in tow.

Throw your notes in the car. 6 months is a perfect time to go away. Do you really want another 3 months sat at home, not going out and enjoying life? Do it and have a great time. It's important for both of you.

You'll be fine! I'm currently at the end of a nice long holiday in France at 14-16 weeks pregnant and it's been lovely and relaxing. The French health care system is great if you need it, if you choose meals carefully you'll be unlikely to get food poisoning. Just pack your notes on case.

I think you'll feel better about the holiday once you're there! I went on holiday to Spain at 19 weeks which I know is earlier than you are, but I was really anxious because I'd had worries about my cervix leading up to it. Anyway I had a brilliant time and didn't worry at all once I was there, and it managed to relax me totally so was just what I needed. Enjoy!

I was in exact same position just over a week ago if u look for my post. I am now in spain on the last day of my hol and have enjoyed every minute!
Im only ten weeks gone but hol has gone without a hitch. Try to relax and enjoy your break xx

You will be fine. I went to Las Vegas at 24 weeks and came home at 25 weeks and I was totally fine and that was with long haul flights and then driving across America for days as well.
I was nervous but took a copy of my notes with me and also left the originals with my mum so she could scan them should I need anything xx

ok...phew thanks for the reassurances! Yes, the French health care is v. good. I shall keep reminding myself of that. Maybe find out where the nearest hospital will be before I go etc. It hadn't occurred to me yet to take my notes! Yikes. And also, I haven't really been enjoying myself recently, mostly just 'waiting' (and spending too much time here).

It's absolutely fine! It's France, not a developing country. Just make sure you are properly insured just in case, and have an E111 that is up to date! Not that you'll need it, but the peace of mind helps. And yes, take your notes!

I've been all over the place when pregnant at different stages (US, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Denmark). If something does happen or you get concerned the standard of healthcare is just as good and so long as insurance is in place, it's no different to how you'd be treated at home.
