I am 22 weeks and just a big water bag.

I didn't realise how big until my ankles started dissapearing this week, and when I went to put my usually roomy wllies on earlier, they were really tight.

I just feel myself getting bigger.

I don't mind the extra weight that comes with pregnancy, but at the moment I have gone beyond that and I am only just past half way.

I don't feel ill, still going to the gym, eating relatively well, i can feel the baby bobbing around and hear heartbeat with a stethescope, but just can't stop or slow the water retention. I am pretty sure it is water retention in my non medical opinion.

Do you have any suggestions to ease things? Anyone else in the same boat?

First speak to your midwife or better yet doctor. Fluid retention at 22 weeks may be a symptom of something that needs fixing ie. kidneys as its pretty early.

Failing that showing anything support tights or stockings are the way to go. There are the normal ones you can buy in shops but also much stronger ones you can buy online - my MIL are crazy compressive.

Keep drinking water, cut down on salt and get you legs up all the time or in a bucket of cold water.

Drink more water - I found this helped dramatically.

I would get it checked out but also eat celery. A colleague at work suffers from water retention, and eating celery definitely helps x

Yes, get it checked out.

Thanks for the advice.

I will contact docs on Tuesday and eat celery in the meantime.
