Hospital bag for c section??

Sorry in advance that this has probably been done a million times but just after some advice as I don't have a clue where to start.

I am having a c section so just wondered what I need to pack in my hospital bag? And how many outfits do I need to take for baby? All my friends have given birth naturally so we weren't sure if it was different with a c section.

Thanks in advance xxx

I took just one bag for both of us, a hold all. But DH brought me things from home as we wee only minutes away.

We don't live too far away so I was thinking maybe 6 changes of clothes for baby plus a going home outfit and one pack of nappies. Then 2 pairs of PJs for myself. As if I have to stay any longer DH can always bring me more stuff. Xx

Liquid for pooing is lactulose. I drank a whole massive bottle over the week I was in and that was about right.

I had to ask for it though! Umm I haven't eaten in 3 days and now I'm on opiates, what do you think is going to happen!

I agree with poster upthread about M&S granny knickers - they're fab for this purpose and accommodate bulky maternity pads.

This cooling spray was one of the best things I took with me the first time. The post-natal ward was horrendously hot and I had to stay 3 nights.

I also took Peppermint Oil (put some drops in your drinks) to prevent the dreaded gas, but didn't have problems with that - not sure the oil had anything to do with it.

Um. I had no trouble pooing after my section.had the trapped wind - but I think that's more to do with the air that stays in you when they sew you up iyswim. So my top tip for avoiding problems is lots of fruit and veg over the next few weeks. (am vegetarian)
