Hello! So embarrassed to be whining about this! It's my first pregnancy (did the test just a week ago) and at eight weeks I'm feeling strangely stressed out and panicky.

With it being so early we're not sure if we should tell family and friends yet, but that's left me feeling really lonely - like I can't talk to anyone but DH about it. Been to see the GP and first midwife appointment is next week, but I have no idea what to expect. Everyone seems to have a different experience... I'm almost starting to worry that it isn't real and that we had a false positive or something!!

What did other people do when you first found out? When did you start telling people?

Sorry if this is really pathetic...

Don't worry, it's a really overwhelming time. And I agree about how isolating it can be to not be able to tell anyone.

You could think about who you might want support from if the worst happened. I told my best friend re day I did the test, as I knew I needed her support whatever happened.

Have you joined the antenatal club for when you are due. I know that it is only virtual, but there is a massive amount of support and it really helps with the not being able to talk...

When are you due?

Most people wait to share the news till after the 12 week scan. For obvious reasons really.

Of course it's a surreal period and you wouldn't be the first not to believe it till they see it on the scan.

Can't you just enjoy the secret between you and your DH for now? And spend time on these forums to satisfy your need to talk about it?

Good luck.

We found out at 6 weeks and I just couldn't hold it in - I told everyone. Not something I would recommend, I was just so shocked and didn't really know what to do otherwise. I then had bleeding and cramping with a suspected ectopic/threatened miscarriage and, had that been the case, I would have had to tell everyone that my pregnancy had failed. Luckily everything was fine and I'm now 25+5 but it was a very scary, daunting time.

First MW appointment is just a bit boring. Filling in some forms and getting your scan date. They dipped my pee and took some bloods.

False positives are very, very rare. A line is a line is a line, you're pregnant :) congratulations :)

We chose to tell close family straight away. My reasoning was that if anything awful was to happen I would want their support! But I realise that's not for everyone

We told close friends and parents. Basically people I wanted to be there for me in case things went wrong.

Hiya. When we first found out I was 7 weeks... We just told our parents and then waited until 12 weeks to tell everyone else. .. At my first mw appointment there was alot of filling in my notes a blood test and a urine test.. The Dr had booked in my 12 week scan so she didn't need to... So tell your parents and enjoy being in a little bubble until you tell the world... I wish I had waited longer to tel the world now. But once u get tele first scan out the way it starts to feel more real. Congratulations :D
