Anterior Placenta & baby movements?

I?d love to hear from any women who currently have and those who have had in past pregnancies- an anterior placenta. I felt very very light sporadic fluttering from around 20 weeks and now at 25 weeks have days and set periods within the day where I actually feel moving and kicking. It?s gorgeous and I love it, to all women complaining about kicking causing pain I would so happily swap with!

The day before yesterday baby was quite active and then from last night and this morning, near to nothing definite at all. Used Doppler and still strong heartbeat. Having had days on/off over the past few weeks so I know not to freak out and call midwife etc as a day usually comes soon when the moment is more obvious/stronger again. I wandered if this sounds normal?

How did you experience this with anterior placentas/ from which week did you feel these most regular and prominent movement and does the counting 10 movements within 2 hour period after 28 weeks- still apply to us too? Thanks Smile

Rightsaidthread- thankyou! Did you ever go for longer periods, say half of full day without any movement? Do you remember from which week you started to feel more regular movements?

Thanks.

I had an anterior placenta with my DD and I have again in my second pregnancy (I'm currently 21 weeks).

I found the 10 movements in two hours didn't really apply to me at all. I found really paying attention to when baby moved and making mental note of it helped because I got to know what was normal for me. I did end up going in to my maternity hospital at 25 weeks as Dd hadn't moved all day. Turns out where I had a busy day she was just resting. They're always really happy to see you and you won't be wasting their time if you do feel you should go in. It's good having the dopler at home as this is all they used to check dd was ok (no scans or anything)

Hi

I'm 31 weeks and have an anterior placenta but from the movements that I get you wouldn't think so! I have the odd day here and there where I can go all morning without feeling movements but have been told that this is normal.

I didn't start to feel movements until I was about 23 weeks and then it was only little flutters. But as the weeks have gone on I am now getting lots of kicks and feeling different body parts sticking out.

You will be get know your babies movements. I can guarantee the minute I sit down at my desk as work I will feel movements, when I get home and crash out on the sofa, I will feel it and then the minute I lie in bed.

It still doesn't get old!

Hi I'm 22 weeks with an anterior placenta. Its my first pregnancy and I feel very little at all so far, which is quite disconcerting. Couldn't even say 100% that I have felt the baby move yet, but what I suspect to be kicks usually happen when I am watching TV in bed before going to sleep, if I am lying totally still. Even then they are few and far between so would love to be feeling more! Can't really see that the 10 movements within 2 hours will ever apply to me really, I don't even feel 10 movements a day at the moment!

Thanks all rally good & interesting to hear! Was getting really worried & even booked a (4d) scan as found one for only £60 & we are flying to France next week so wanted reassurance before we went & if all well, thought would be lovely to have that pic with us.

Hadn?t felt anything since yesterday evening even going to loo at work and getting on floor/lying on side (lovely!) but in past hour movement has started again yay!

FobblyWoof thankyou- will start paying more attention to patterns in movement & star87 almost same here re. times of day/situations how funny!

jinglebellme know exactly how you feel!! Almost bang on 24 weeks though the movements became a lot more prominent with me, nothing near a kick or rolling around ebfore that. Sure it will happen to you around then too.

I'm 27 weeks with anterior placenta and some days I don't feel any movements at all and others she goes crazy. But if I don't feel for two days I would get checked as that is abnormal for me xx

Cookiepants · 21/08/2013 19:20

I'm 37 weeks with DC1 and anterior placenta. I didn't feel anything that I could say was definite movement until 27-28 weeks and then is was one day lots / next day nothing. Now feel movements everyday but not strong punches/kicks that people talk about. My M/W has advised me to learn what is normal for me as 10 in 2 hours may be hard for me to feel. A woman I work with didn't feel a single movement through her entire pg!

I had an anterior placenta in my last pregnancy and never really felt strong movement - I tended to feel hiccups more than kicking or moving. Felt the most movement at around 32 weeks but felt hardly anything at the end. I went in once for monitoring but in hindsight wish I'd gone far more often because its better to be on safe side. DD was a little on small side when born, 6 lb and I suspect she wasn't growing all that well towards the end. I found it hard to judge normal amount of movement as I felt so little anyway. Definitely best was when resting and times I overdid it at work was when I noticed lack of movement.

MissHC · 22/08/2013 10:14

Anterior placenta here too. Currently 28 weeks (since today, yay). Only started feeling movement (very slightly) at 23 weeks. They are getting stronger every day and I can feel the baby more, but last week there was still a day I was a bit concerned as couldn't feel it for a whole day. The next day I could feel it, otherwise I would have gone to doctors. Since then has been kicking lots every day.

But if you're concerned call your midwife.
