i know its not the best idea, but i am far too heavy and want to get down to 'overweight' rather than 'obese' before i get big.

i know slimming world is ok to do while pg, but was wondering if anyone hs actually managed to lose much? was thinking of sticking to it all the way through anyway as my blood sugar goes a bit haywire while pg so healthy eating is good idea anyway.

you don't need to diet, just start sensible eating, that way your not letting baby miss out on the esentials, just you miss out on the non essentails.....
I was lucky my cravings where cabbage , fruit of any sort and water !! so i lost weight whilest pg with no effort at all, and had very health 7lb 7oz....

The baby always takes what it wants first anyway, don't worry, look at all those people that are sick all the way through... they still have healthy babies...

Good luck...

Eat right and you should not put on too much. Then breastfeeding will help shed xtra.

1500 calories way too low for pregnanncy. Recomened is about 2000 or 2300.
For high BMI I think you can safely go down to 1800.

But calorie couting is pointless. You need the right foods.
I'm not really overweight but don't want to put on too much as pbl with SPD and with the following I did not put on anything fisrt 3 months and now gaining slowly.

  • good quality lean protein (fish/eggs/lean meat/pulses/tofu etc)
  • lots of veg (roasted/steamed and seasoned etc...)
  • wholegrains
  • non cooked non saturated fats ( oily fish/olive oil/nuts and seeds etc)
  • Eat fruit (sugar) and dairy (fat) in reasonable proportion
  • switch to skim milk/no sugar in tea coffee/dilute juice and limit cakes

Give yourself a big breakfast with protein (eggs and toast) with as little frying oil as possible.

Have nice lunch of pasta/rice with veggie sauce and lean meat.

have a lighterdinner ( not as in quantity but quality): soup and salad and wholegrain toast with light cheese and pulses.

snack on ryvita with cottage cheese/ pickles and veggie sticks/ nuts (unsalted). I found eatting these is very satisfying as they have real bite to them.

I find eating spicy food is also very satisfying and you don't eat so much.

I know soo hard to bypass the pleasure of carbs, but that's the key really. try a bowl of brown rice or barley or quinoa with each meal instead of bread to fill you up.

im 31 weeks pregnant. before i fell pregnany i was 17.1 stone. now im 15.8 stone and i dont know how the waight has gone so fast as i have not done anythin different.

Cutting out fat and sugar is a really good tip. If you did that the whole pregnancy, you would def loose 2 stone and still be able to eat well. Just remember to eat a reasonale amouunt of low fat dairy and a portion of oily fish once a week and couple of portions of fruit a day, so you still get small amounts of good fat and sugar.

I have lost over 6 stone between my last pregnancy and this one, on healthy eating of around 1500 calories a day. I have uped that a small amount for the pregnancy, but no one needs more than 2000 calories a day normally and I don't do much excersise so I need a wee bit less. I will up it but 150-200 calories a day in the last trimester

kayleighmarie you might get more replies if you start a new thread - people will read the OP and generally reply to that, hopefully that poster's baby is enjoying the school Easter Holiday by now Smile
