Where is the cheapest place to buy maternity clothes?

I am running out of clothes which fit so need to buy some maternity clothes.

I can't afford to buy maternity clothes from Next, Mothercare etc as money is tight and all my money needs to go towards the baby.

I looked on Ebay but the P&P is so expensive for each item that it will cost a fortune to buy just a couple of pairs of jeans and tops.

Is there somewhere that sells maternity clothes really cheap?

New Look and H&M are good. A few vests, jeans, couple pairs of leggings, a few tops and a dress or 2 is all you need. My cardigans (undone) still fit at 37 weeks. You could also try Primark in a bigger size as long as its stretchy, comfy materiel. In other words don't buy jeans etc from there.

You don't say how far along you are but don't buy too much, you'll need different items through different seasons.

I second h&m. I got most of my maternity stuff from there and never spent more than £5 on any item, they do great sales! Stretchy tops from primark are great- £2.50 each and they come in a good range of colours. Jeans from new look- not as cheap but I tried all different kinds and they were the only ones that actually stayed on.

New look do a two pack of maternity leggings for 14.99- they come in so handy for after the birth too as they're so comfy

I'm trying not to buy anything yet as I'm just 20wks and I know summer stuff will be no good in the long run.

The thing that is worrying me most is a maternity coat. I will need a warm coat to do the school runs in during the winter (due in Jan) but spending lots on a coat isn't an option

I didn't buy a lot of clothes, but I found new look was the best for me. It depends on what style of clothes you need- I mostly needed fairly casual clothes- tops and dresses. I did splash out on an expensive pair of maternity jeans (Isabella Oliver) but I wore them so much that I feel that they were worth it. What size of clothes are you? (If you don't mind me asking)

Matalan is pretty good and usually has stuff in store not just online. I mostly just bought normal clothes in larger sizes when I had DS, other than maternity jeans. Even got a coat for £4 from the charity shop that was perfect!

With eBay why not search for local sellers so you could collect them, saves a fortune on postage costs!

Have you tried Asos? Free delivery and if you look on the outlet/clearance pages there are a few nice things on there. I've just bought a dress for a tender that will see me through till the end! I'm not going to get a maternity coat but rather look around for styles that will fit over a bump. I found in my last pregnancy that I was very hot towards the end so rather hoping the A&E will happen this time! I'm due beginning of March.

Good luck! Thanks

A&E - that

Asda is good too (order online and get delivered to your nearest store for free). I've been living in their £6 leggings!

I got 2 pairs of maternity trousers at H&M for £7 each in the sale this weekend. I've also picked up a couple of New Look and H&M tops for under a tenner each. I'm just wearing old baggy tops too.

Do you have any friends or family members you can borrow from? I've found quite a few people offering me clothes as obviously once they're done with them they have no need anymore - maybe it's worth asking around?

Charity shops are a good idea!

I know eBay is expensive for postage but some people do bundles- I got all my stuff from eBay which meant I didn't have to haul my fat ass around the shops looking for clothes either!

mrstalbear · 19/08/2013 13:18

I got a winter coat from asda in a couple of sizes bigger than usual for 20quid. I lived in primark jumpers in a bigger size and leggings from peacocks maternity for 6 poundsish. h+m do cheap tops- longsleeve/ vest tops which are great for wearing under most things to cover your bump!

islasmummy2013 · 19/08/2013 14:39

The Asda near me always has maternity wear in there reduced section, it's normally all huge sizes but during my last pregnancy I snapped up a pair of jeans for £1!! Worth a try if you have one local x
