As the title says really but need to get it all out!

I'm 25+4 with dc1 Smile we're really excited about baby and I'm so grateful to be pregnant with a healthy baby when some people struggle.

However! My hips/pelvis = OUCH Angry

Trying to sleep has become an art form with arranging pillows to get comfy and I haven't slept properly for ages Sad so I'm tired and grumpy in the day and still achey!

Baby is very active which is great but changed position yesterday so was kicking my bladder and left hand side so my left ligament is also aching/painful now Sad

I'm trying everything I can to help it - support band, gentle exercise, warm baths and on occasion paracetomol but trying not to take too many of those but I still ache Sad

Worse part is I'm a teacher and also visit other schools so on my feet a lot and I go back to work on Tue and it's manic from day one Sad I generally love my job but the thought of getting up at 6.15am and working for the next 10 weeks makes me want to cry! Supposed to be travelling to a conference by train at 33 weeks as well which I'm dreading!

Anyone sympathise or wish to have a whinge with me lol x

I know how you feel. I am 20 weeks and have horrific sciatica. I am on crutches and housebound as I can't walk very far (to the lou and back is About my limit) i can't sleep much either and I am on co-codomol.

I am very excited about having my baby girl but wish I could enjoy the pregnancy. I am doing all the exercises from the physio and I hope it may lessen to some extent so I can go shopping...lol...

Damn you sciatica!

Indya · 17/08/2013 09:41

Have you tried Rhus Tox 30 - a homeopathic remedy? This helped me and some of my friends. Happy to supply more info if interested.

Xenadog · 17/08/2013 11:42

I was laid up all day yesterday with pains in my left hand lower stomach/pelvic region. Dear Lord! I went to bed hoping that it would be gone today. Pleased to say it has subsided but what on earth are our bodies going through when pregnant?

I'm a teacher too and my lessons will all be with me sat on my backside (or possibly lying across tables if I can get away with it) and just speaking to the kids. Luckily they are older so I don't have to be too active and get on the floor with them. I have 9 teaching weeks left and I am on countdown!

Lovemyprincess4eva · 17/08/2013 12:15

I suffered with this pain and was in tears so often! I went to see my midwife at 25 weeks and she got me straight in to see a physio and they have said I have SPD and I now have to see her every two weeks. The physio along with a pelvic band and exercises are really helping although I am still in pain and have been signed off work until after I have the baby (I work in a nursery) as it is too difficult and painful to continue working.
It may be worth contacting your midwife or doctor and asking for a referral as it has helped me so much!!

I hope u get sorted as I know the pain is horrendous xx

chillisbopper · 17/08/2013 12:28

hugs I feel your pain Thanks

I'm 25+1 and back ache is getting on my nerves now, it's near impossible to get comfortable at night Sad.

Also been having pelvic pain since around 21 weeks, it wasnt too bad then so I didn't mention to mw at 22 week appointment but at 24 weeks it had become rather painful at times and so I mentioned it, mw didn't say anything and so when I went through to see the consultant I mentioned it to him and he just said its pretty normal as your body prepares for childbirth Hmm...i don't care how "normal" it is! I've got to a point where turning over in bed to get comfy hurts, filling the dogs water bowl hurts, getting dressed hurts unless I sit down and keep my knees together as much as possible, and I don't feel like mw/consultant care really Hmm.

Next appointment isn't until 16th sept as well! Hopefully it'll be a different mw and I'll mention it again and hopefully get somewhere...

PumpkinPie2013 · 17/08/2013 13:22

Thanks so much for all of your replies Smile wouldn't wish it on anyone but good to know I'm not alone Smile

Indya not heard of Rhus tox 30 but would like to know more if you don't mind?

I've seen a physio once - was referred through mw. She gave me an exercise and some suggestions about movement so I follow those but she did say ring her if things were difficult so I might go back to her and see what she suggests.

chillisbopper sorry to hear the mw/consultant haven't helped you - definitely mention it again and push for them to do something!

Tyners sciatica is awful and it must be hard being housebound Sad hope it improves for you so you can go out x

lovesmy Sounds like you've had it bad and working in a nursery must be really difficult so I'm glad your foc signed you off. Like Xena I work mainly with older kids which is easier and will also be teaching sat down where possible but I teach Science so have to be up and about during practicals but I may bribe the technician to come in and help!

Hopefully we will all feel better when cuddling our babies! X

don't put up with this - ask for the physio again, it is a 'normal ' part of pregnancy but there are things that can help. Get them to refer you to physio and they can give you a belt and teach you strengthening excercises. Mine is still bad but in check. Sleeping is the difficult bit and I cant walk to far but I can manage without painkillers. The earlier you get seen by physio the better the outcome. If it gets too bad get signed off work.

Indya · 17/08/2013 22:13

Rhus tox is a homeopathic remedy safe to use in pregnancy. If it's going to help it should start to help after a few doses. Take I under the tongue every 15 minutes for 3 doses then 1 three times aday. Don't eat or drink 10 mins on either side of the remedy and avoid mint. Get non mint toothpaste - easy to get now in most pharmacies. Good luck. Hope it helps. It did help me.

BigKicker · 18/08/2013 00:07

I'm suffering too! :( I'm nearly 26 weeks and told my mw last week and she said the waiting list for physio is that long you will have had the baby by the time I'm seen! She said if it gets any worse go to your doctor for some strong pain killers! I don't think ill be doing that I would rather out up with the pain, I did go to mother care yesterday and get a maternity belly band for £12, I put it on yesterday and my lower back started to hurt! I've given up to be honest.

PumpkinPie2013 · 18/08/2013 10:26

Aww so many of us suffering Sad last night was horrendous again Angry I find the only way I can be comfy without awful back/hip pain is to basically sleep sat up propped up with 4 pillows.

Not ideal but better than lying down. Baby was kicking loads as well so that kept me awake.

Finally fell asleep at about 6am but with my ankles crossed so woke suddenly with a numb leg Angry

So it's nearly 10.30am and I'm still in my pj's!!!

Will get in touch with either my mw or gp on Mon to make an appointment. Dreading going back to work on Tue as I'm so exhausted I could cry Sad

Oh well, only 15 weeks to go! X

Sorry to hear about all the pain you are all having. I have been wondering whether I have SPD or similar but if so it is only v mild.

Do you ladies mind if I ask how far you can walk? And does it ease off with movement or get worse?

I ask because I am 37+2 and have had had hip pain for a couple of months. I can walk a mile or more fine but very slowly and waddle. It has started to hurt more in the last week, especially turning in bed or putting clothes on.

I've read you need to be careful with birth positions and SPD and unsure whether to flag with MW again not. As I say mine not agony, so possibly just normal?

joosiewoosie · 19/08/2013 00:22

You all sound like real troupers I have to say. Hats off to you!

I'm only 8 weeks pg with DC2, but for the past week a pain in my lower left back has spread down to my hip, and now into my thigh, where it feels sore all the time and bruised. Wondering whether its sciatica. Not had pain in leg before, although often get lower left back pain.

I'm having trouble getting comfy anytime, and have just ordered a 'mumanu' pillow in desperation, thinking if I'm like this at 8 weeks, what will I be like at 38 weeks!

I'm considering evicting myself to spare single bed, so hubby and 13 month DD can have bed to themselves and I can stretch out a bit!

Will keep you all posted regarding any progress (or not, as is often the case with these things!)

McBaby · 19/08/2013 06:43

SPD is not fun but you need to try and not aggrivate it. Get a Physio appointment. And follow their instructions keep knees together as much as possible is when getting out of bed, car etc.

I was signed off work from 26 weeks last year as I was in so much pain and couldn't sit or walk. You may need time off if ifs bad, or adjust duties at work or just some time to get symptoms under control.
