I am 39+4 now and for the last 3 days have got a real pain in the lower pelvic area, cant bend down to put trousers on, or get get out of the bath or lift my legs it hurts when I sit down no matter if i sit upright or sit back and when i get up it gets worse, can stand without to much pain but walking is crippling me never had this with first pregnancy, and baby is constantly moving and he is hurting me now do I try and see the midwife or is this normal this far on? I know babys head is engaged as when i saw the midwife on monday she said she wasnt sure what was keeping him in but no signs of going into labour as of yet! not sure how much longer i can cope havent slept for 3 nights now at all and i am running on empty!

Give her a ring.

I'd call. I had an ongoing pain (not contractions) whilst I was in early labour (still at home) and DS had got himself tangled up and was in an odd position, hence the pain. Monitoring showed that he needed to be born fairly soon so they broke my waters and we got on with it! Smile Can you feel the baby moving at the moment? They'll ask you when you ring and I hadn't thought of it so hadn't really paid attention immediately before!

sounds like spd if its your pelvis and the front pubic bone that is hurting?

normally you could see a physio and get a support belt etc but by the time your referral comes through you will have had thr baby.

but its worth noting as it may affect the positions you want to deliver in and they should be careful when examining you or doing stitches etc not to move your legs too far apart as this can make it worse after delivery.

goigle spd and there is a wrbsite and forum for advice and write it in your birth plan/notes.

in the meantime knees together when getting up/down and in out of bed and be careful how you sit on sofas etc.

pillow between knees may help in bed.
