39+1

okay, so I know I had a bad nights sleep awake from 2-5, and didn't go to sleep until 12:30ish and got up at 6:30, but you would have thought i'd have made up for it by now.

I went back to bed at 10 and then woke up at 11:30, then pootled around for a bit, had a bath, and fell asleep for another hour or so in there!

What is going on? I'm a light sleeper when i'm not pregnant, and am not used to sleeping this much during the day and it's a bit odd. I could probably go to sleep again now if I knew I wasn't going out in a bit.

Is this normal or have I developed some lazy-itis.???

Confused

your body is preparing for the upcoming endless sleepless nights! enjoy it while you can!

p.s remember your body is running a marathon every day to make your little bundle Wink

Boosiehs · 15/08/2013 17:49

I've just gone back to bed. 39 weeks, never been this tired!!

Stom91 · 15/08/2013 17:53

gosh looks like i have that to look forward too.. im only 22 weeks but sleeping like theres no tomorrow! x

pettyprudence · 15/08/2013 18:00

OOh i slept non stop the day before ds arrived. I think it was my body preserving strength and energy. Maybe labour is imminent?

Also, pregnancy is just bloody exhausting!

PoppettyPing · 15/08/2013 18:08

OH my god, I'm 36 weeks and I could sleep for England. I think it's pretty normal.

RegainingUnconsciousness · 15/08/2013 18:11

sleep now, while you still can!

Seriously, it could be a year or more before you can get more than 4 hours in a row and/or sleep in the day.

you owe it to your future self!

poocatcherchampion · 15/08/2013 19:47

4 hours in a row! who gets that in late pregnancy?!?!!?!? cat napping is the way forward, I keep having a snooze when dd does at 10am. we only get up between 7-8am and have only achieved breakfast and playing with a few toys by then.

this lush!

RegainingUnconsciousness · 15/08/2013 20:23

Tru, poo. I think I might have finally repressed all memory of that time.

MrBlondesFries · 15/08/2013 20:42

I miss sleeping. Haven't slept since dc1 was born 21 months ago.

Kelly1814 · 15/08/2013 20:56

I would kill for this much sleep.

Am 32+2 and getting around 3 or 4 hours a night, then going to work. I could cry I am so tired.

Mayanbob · 15/08/2013 21:56

Thanks all for reassurance.

Boosie - not just me then!

Kelly I really feel your pain, that's how I was the last few weeks before mat leave. Although I must say I didn't feel the tiredness so much - just kind of functioned through it Zombie-style. Hope you haven't got too much longer till yours starts.

I am SO in awe of mums who already have DCs and are pregnant. I feel like a flakey wuss. Grin

4 hours in a row does seem a bit ambitious, but I will follow your advice and make the most of being able to sleep in the day whilst I can. - just need to get over myself feeling "guilty" about napping in the day ffs Mayan sort it out

Just enjoy it! I could definitely sleep that much if I didn't have a 3 yr old! It's not that he would do anything bad but I can't relax if he's up and about doing things. I do sometimes manage to get him to lie with me and watch a film and I sneakily go to sleep! To be honest I did that even before I got pregnant! I love sleep! x

Kelly1814 · 16/08/2013 07:16

OP I have thought the same about women who manage pregnancy with little ones already, I have no idea how they do it!

I'm due a section at 36 or 37 weeks and will be working until a few days before, sadly. Yawn!!

SchrodingersFanny · 16/08/2013 07:21

Sleep! All day if you can! It could be years before you sleep properly again.

SeriousStuff · 16/08/2013 09:47

I'm 32 wks and unless we have stuff on, I will nap for about 3 hours a day. I've stopped trying to fight it as my body obviously craves it...and agree that I should probably make the most of it before the baby arrives!
