Hi, I'm 13 weeks with DC2 and starting to show so looking for maternity clothes and the range seems even worse than last time I was pregnant! Any ideas for places to pick up a few things to update my wardrobe? Don't want to spend much as this I'm planning this will be the last time...

I agree the clothing situation was far worse this time round. Most shops have their maternity range on line rather than in store. New Look had one of the best selections. I've lived in their t shirts and a couple of pairs of Leigh Jeans from top shop.

WinnieF · 14/08/2013 16:50

Hiya, why don't you have a quick look at the Isabella Oliver website. Not cheap, but there's a 70% sale on at the moment and the clothes are fantastic. I have been living in their scoop maternity tops and t-shirts for the last 6 months (due 23rd August) and they work as well with a small bump as they do with a... well somewhat larger bump :-)

NeedSomeSun142 · 14/08/2013 17:01

try eBay I got most of my maternity from there

missmargot · 14/08/2013 17:03

This is my first pregnancy and I've been really disappointed at how few nice maternity clothes there are.

Isabella Oliver, Picchu and Seraphine all have sales on and you can recoup a lot of the cost by selling on eBay afterwards.

ASOS are good and not too expensive and Next have an ok range online, not seen much in store though.

Catnap26 · 14/08/2013 17:04

New look???

princesscupcakemummyb · 14/08/2013 17:28

new look have a good range and very reasonable prices thats where most of my clothes have come from i got enough to last me through the pregnancy without having to spend hundreds of pounds :)

whyno · 14/08/2013 17:34

H&m

midori1999 · 14/08/2013 18:22

I agree about Isabella Oliver, great quality and will last the whole pregnancy and possibly for a bit afterwards too. You can get it cheaply in the sale or pick new/used bits up on Ebay too.

New Look do have a good selection, but the t-shirts etc are so thin and I just didn't like much of what they had it. It's good for jeans/leggings though. I bought a few tops from there and most of it just doesn't wash well, so it's a bit of a false economy really.

AnotherStitchInTime · 14/08/2013 18:27

H&M, New Look, ASOS sale, Suri Ajuni, Topshop, Ebay.

I also bought some empire line stuff in a couple of sizes too big that has worked for me for most of my last two pregnancies.

AnythingNotEverything · 14/08/2013 18:31

I'd invest in a decent pair of jeans from H&M, Topshop or new look (I've found next maternity jeans are oddly sized), a winter coat (I saw some from Red Herring but I haven't needed one due to summer pregnancy!) and then get some cheap t shirts from H&M, new look or ASOS.

I've bought a lot from eBay, and haven't been disappointed. I've lived in wrap dresses at work, some with leggings, from mothercare, Isabella Oliver and next - all via eBay for a fraction of the cost new. I hope to resell them when I'm done.

For a winter wardrobe, leggings and boots with dresses, tunics and long jumpers will do you fine. I'm 31 weeks now and still wearing H&M basic vests under long cardis, despite a bump measuring three weeks ahead.

Good luck!

FlatsInDagenham · 14/08/2013 18:41

Ebay! I got my whole maternity wardrobe on there. Se really quality pieces too.

MrsLianeB · 14/08/2013 18:49

Next clearance section of their website, and New look I bought a few items a couple of dresses, leggings, jeans, tshirts and jumpers prob spend £150 overall. Although did have to buy a dress for a wedding and got an Issabella Oliver one off ebay BNWT for £40 - can't say I was too impressed with it but it did the job!
Also bought some non maternity just bigger size stuff from asda £3 for a tshirt etc

Want2bSupermum · 14/08/2013 19:01

Check out Asda. During my 2nd pregnancy I was wearing their jeggings with DH's shirts at weekends. Their jeggings were 95% cotton, bootcut and cost something silly like $16 a pair.

For work clothes I had 5 dresses from each pregnancy (2 babies) and a suit jacket that went with a few of the dresses that I wore every week. I live here in the US and got the dresses at motherhood maternity and pea in the pod.

popocatepetl · 14/08/2013 20:13

Thanks everyone, some great tips. I've bid on some Isabelle Oliver stuff on ebay and raided the asos and mamas & papas sale for a few bits. It doesn't help that I didn't think we could have any more children so leant my maternity clothes to friends. 3 ladies later and a lot of it's looking tatty!

I have used new look, long tops and leggings, can't wait to get back in to normal nice clothes Grin.

KeepTheFaithBaby · 14/08/2013 21:08

Peacocks do a maternity range too if you want really cheap and cheerful.

PeriodMath · 14/08/2013 21:56

I had a winter pg first time and lived in Gap Maternity. Summer baby this time and still in Gap. Always very affordable, esp with one if those 30% vouchers that do the rounds.

I usually make a big online order and return what I don't want to store.

TheThinksYouCanThink · 14/08/2013 22:03

New Look!
And if anybody is looking for some Sz 16 jeans and tops then I have a few - some barely worn as I struggled to find jeans I liked! Feel free to pm me and I could probably post them out. Am 38 weeks now so living in tunics and leggings!

CrispyFB · 14/08/2013 22:41

Matalan (as well as Peacocks) are sometimes okay too, if you want very cheap and cheerful! Fine for basics anyway.

Debenhams have a maternity line under their Red Herring label. I noticed some stuff in their sale recently, but I'm still early and didn't want to jinx things!

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 15/08/2013 04:16

H & m and new look were best for me.

Xenadog · 15/08/2013 10:53

New Look have a decent selection of cheap and cheerful. Their over the bump bootcut jeans fit really well and t shirts seem reasonable.

I have also worn some older clothes which are in a bigger size to my normal stuff and that seems OK too. I think I will have a capsule wardrobe for the pregnancy of jeans, leggings, work trousers, big t shirts, oversized cardigans and a couple of dresses.

I don't expect to look good at any point in this pregnancy so have kind of aimed for practical.

charlottesweb87 · 15/08/2013 12:51

I am loving h&m mama range! It's good enough quality too so will last a long time. It's the only place so far that I have found good value and flattering maternity clothing. I am living in my maternity jeans from there! So comfy and fit brilliantly Smile

Romily · 15/08/2013 20:00

Verbaudet have a lovely range of clothes and there are lots of discounts. I have also bought a few bots from Mamas and Papas as well as H&M. Ebay is great for bargains too. What I have found challenging is finding clothes that are suitable for work. Casual clothes are easily available but work clothes have proved tricky!

FraggleRock77 · 15/08/2013 20:02

New Look. Cheap and stylish x

f1ump · 21/08/2013 14:14

I'd recommend the maternity jeans from Topshop. They are so comfy and still allow you to feel sexy and stylish. For all my other clothes I shopped primarily at Primark but just bought bigger sizes.
