I'm pg with baby #1, and the last few days I have needed to sleep at around 4ish for a couple of hours. Just had an afternoon nap, but last night I struggled to sleep. I literally sit down and can't keep my eyes open. Is this the best thing to be doing?

K8 - yesterday i nearly started a thread here entitled ''is it normal to be so tired i cant even muster the energy to dry my hair after a shower'' Grin

I seriously had to have a lay down or i would have fallen down! This was around 4pm too.

Have a nap if you need it. If i didn't have my afternoon nap i'd have to be going to bed at 8.30 Grin

K8eee · 13/08/2013 08:04

Fluffy I think I would've been EXACTLY the same. Before I found out I was pregnant, I fell asleep on the sofa from 9pm, slept through dh coming in from work and the home phone ringing, along with him making himself dinner then he finally got me up at 11:30pm and once in bed I slept through until 8:30am!!! I feel like a teenager Grin

It is literally an effort to do ANYTHING at the moment. I've got a day off of work today, but all I want to do is sit in front of the tv watching crisply daytime tv Confused

Oh my goodness, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm soo tiered I feel like staying in bed all day long, it's ridiculous! I feel bad like I'm being really lazy but I literally crash out as soon as I walk in the door! My other half thinks its hilarious and is being wonderful about it, but I still feel like a walking zombie!
How this doesn't last to long!!

One of our best friends is a midwife and she has explained it should be gone after the first trimester, so I'm hoping by 16 weeks I'll feel a lot more lively. Our sex life is down the pan at the moment Sad the last thing I'm wanting at the moment if dh shagging me whilst I'm wanting to puke Grin he's dealing with it pretty well though Smile

I'm exactly the same. I'm now 31+4 and since 26 wks I have had quite a few days where I've had to take a nap around 2pm or 3pm and will sleep for a good 3 hours. Luckily I work for myself from home!

And now, to add to this, I can't really sleep at night until 2.30 or 3am - regardless of whether I've had an epic nap during the day. I've decided not to fight any of this and listen to my body. I'm just fortunate to be in a position to do this.

Oh the extreme exhaustion is incredible isn't it? That was the first symptom I had that I was pregnant. Mine starts at 2.pm everyday. Even now (22 weeks) I still feel tired then and could have a little kip. I can power on through now though whereas before I actually could have slept on a clothes line!

I think my best amount of sleep was 19 hours in one 24 hour period - and I was still yawning!

K8eee · 13/08/2013 15:27

19 hours xena?! Argh I'd kill for that Grin dh doesn't quite understand why I'm so tired, as I'm not showing but I guess the first phase (so I have read!) is the most important and knackering!

What with the tiredness and lack of eating I can't really help myself Hmm

Seriously it is THE most tired I have ever been. Exhaustion just descends and bed is the most attractive place ever.

Your DH needs to understand you are creating life (LOL) and that takes a LOT of energy. If you have sickness too you aren't probably getting all the nutrition you need so are doubly knackered.

I remember one day just thinking any woman who has had a child is my hero!

K8eee · 13/08/2013 16:02

I've had a little sickness, not a great deal, but I've been put off pickled onion crisps for a while Grin sorry if tmi! I was recommended these sickness bands, have popped them on so hopefully they'll work! But I have cut down on how much I'm eating, not purposely but just because I don't want to eat. The mere idea of it makes me want to vom.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose got their bed as their new best friend Grin

I just cannot get comfy on the sofa after about 8pm either. Wriggling and flailing and restless legs :( I don't know why ... nice big sofa - but i just neeeeed to be layed out in bed and watch the clock till bedtime! Grin

DH is fine about it all. Bless him. He often comes home from work (5pm ish) to find me all befudled after a nap Blush He thinks it's funny.

I'm waiting for it to get better. I'm 18 weeks.

K8eee · 13/08/2013 16:20

Yes to the restlessness! I need a bed to myself I think Hmm poor dh must think he's in bed with a bucking broncoGrin

Ah fluffy I'm only 8 weeks, I thought it got better from 12/14 weeks, I guess that's not the case?

Weeell - i have some days which are ok - like today. I wouldn't want to do too much, but i'm not nodding off at the laptop today. I'll not need a nap.

Other days - as someone else said - from 2pm it's a mental struggle to stay out of the bedroom Grin
