There must be something they can do surely!! I can't live like this until next Feb I'm do bloody uncomfortable and itchy it's depressing the hell out of me already! Please help!

the tablets arent suitable in pregnancy so it is only the cream/pessary type stuff you can use

katrinaxx · 10/08/2013 23:15

I know how you feel I had it last week and it was hell Sad but the pessery actually worked alongside the cream I feel for you its so uncomfortable i had a fan between my legs and a cold flannel down there x

My doc said pessary three days in a row though if pregnant use fingers not tube. Are you sure thrush? Last time I thought I had it turned out to be condom allergy and needed antihistamine though you also need doc advice on that in pregnancy.

YounCAN have the tablet, I have a few times from doctor.

Aside from pessary, go get yourself some pro biotic tablets these really helped me.

Good luck, thrush has been by far the worst symptom of my pregnancy. It has been the turbo thrush version, grim!

I had thrush pretty much constantly throughout my pregnancy, once I got rid of 1 lot I would have a couple of days of peace and then it would be back! Was a nightmare. You will be pleased to know once I had my DS it never came back :)

NHS says not to use the tablet as it can affect the baby. From nhs website:

Advice if you're pregnant or breastfeeding

If you have thrush and you're pregnant or breastfeeding, you should always visit your GP rather than buying anti-thrush medication over the counter from a pharmacy.

You won't be prescribed oral treatment because it may affect your baby. An anti-thrush pessary, such as clotrimazole, econazole or miconazole will probably be prescribed to be used for at least seven days.

If you're pregnant, take care when inserting a pessary because there's a risk of injuring your cervix (neck of the womb). To reduce the risk, it may be better to insert the pessaries by hand instead of using the applicator.
If you have symptoms around your vulva, such as itching and soreness, you may also be prescribed an anti-thrush cream

Well I'm pretty certain it's thrush! Not had sex since finding out I was pregnant (MMC last time and paranoid now) so don't think it's an allergy. When I had same symptoms before it only went with the tablet. I haven't got the 'cottage cheese' discharge at all but very itchy. Wearing cotton underwear all the time anyway (big knickers time!) Will have to get some pessarys. Hmm Thanks for the advice.

Ilovepowerhoop in theory the same advice is to stay away from antibiotics if you have to.

Yet if you have a bad UTI, you will be prescribed them. It's a case of weighing up (very minimal) risks against problems caused by untreated infections.

I was really itchy but had no significant discharge during my first pregnancy and was told by the midwife that it was just (another!) one of those things we have to put up with during pregnancy. So I did my best to ignore it used cold flannels and wandered round with no knickers on during my second pregnancy...
When ds was born they discovered Group B Strep infection. I never put the two together until recently a pregnant friend said she'd been tested for thrush and the swab tested positive for Group B Strep. No idea if there's officially a connection but it might be worth checking it out. Good luck Flowers
