At my 25 week appointment that I would very much prefer not to go overdue this time for risk of birthing a bigger baby than my beautiful.DS who weighed in a whopping 10lb 4oz. She said that on paper my last birth seemed pretty straightforward.and she could see jo reason why they would want to induce me early and it is unlikely I will have a baby bigger than DS.

Well maybe I should've written the notes about my last birth cos if it wasn't for ke going absolutely frickin nuts after pushing for 2.5hrs I'm certain they would've continued letting me just push (in the end I was prep'd for a cs and given a trial ventous which worked on the 3rd and final go).

Anyway MW told.me.to have a word with the consultant.next.time.i.see him but it might be to no avail.

So MNers, dya think it's likely that baby will.he bigger (afterall she did measure me a week ahead.already) and if I maintain a campaign if 'go on about it so much to annoy them into.submission' will it work.

I was 41+3 when.i.went into spontaneous labour with my DS.

What do you think? Advice.please......

Can you ask to see your full detailed notes and go through those with your midwife?
I had quite a long drawn out labour with DD, long labour, 2plus hours of pushing resulting in ventouse delivery, haemorrhage and retained placenta, plus she was 9lb 13 at 40+8. Was induced with DS on due date, (due to cholestasis) and did manage to push him out on my own in 20 mins. Think second time, things can be easier, but think having your detailed notes and going through them with your mw would probably help look at how best to manage your labour this time around.

I think the pushing stage with your 2nd will be shorter even if your baby is bigger IYSWIM. Your body just seems to know what it's doing and gets on with it! My first was average size, pushed for hours, 2nd was 10lb 6oz had been induced and was out in a couple of pushes.

There's every chance you'll labour earlier 2nd time around anyway.
Unless your family particularly runs to big babies there's a good chance this one will be smaller.
Even if this baby is as big, the pushing stage is very likely to be much much easier 2nd time around. Hours pushing is very common for a first baby, whatever size. Second babies just pop out in comparison.
Don't want to be alarmist about inductions but yeugh, I'd rather push out any size baby than do that again.

Agree with Random, EthelRed and Catkind on this one StormBird. They do seem to pop out second time round. My first was 8lb 8oz and I was pushing forever. Second was 10lb 11oz (9 days early) and he was out in ten minutes! Although the consultant was standing by preparing to do a forceps delivery and I think I pushed as if my life depended on it out of sheer fright!

With number 3 they decided to induce me early to stop baby getting so big but he came along 2 weeks early and weighed 9lb 1oz. So chances are your next one might be smaller too!

Thanks everyone for the advice. Keep your fingers crossed for a spontaneous labour at 39 weeks which lasts a few hours and the easy delivery of a healthy 7lb baby girl Grin (it is a girl by the way everything else is me just hoping LOL)
