15 weeks - can I feel movement?

Over the last few days I've been feeling light flutterings and kind of 'popping' like when sitting still on the train or lying in bed on a night. I had my dating scan on Monday and they said I was 14+4 so I'm 15 weeks today and I remarked that over the last couple of days I'd felt slight flutterings when still. The baby was wriggling like crazy on the screen! The sonographer told me 'no it won't be movement it's far too early for that' though and that was the end of it - she was adamant it was too early but what else could it possibly be?

I felt movement not long after that time (maybe a couple of weeks later) but it took me a little while to identify it I think - it was hard to distinguish from bubbles of gas in my guts! But then the feelings increased in strength so I figured that is what I was feeling.

That said, at the 20 week scan I was amazed how much my baby was moving. She was doing squat thrusts forward rolls and some strange yoga positions! I couldn't feel any of the movements that I could see on the screen. My placenta was in the way though and I continued to feel movements either side of it.

So I reckon you could well be feeling the start of the movements, especially if your placenta isn't blocking them.

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have had movement since just after my 12 week scan. This is my 2nd DC. With DC1 I felt first flutterings at 17 weeks.

Ps very odd sonographer comments! Lots of people feel movements early

Thanks, wasn't sure if I was just imagining things!
vix she was a little bit strange. She shouted at DP for accidentally referring to the 20 week scan as 'the one where we find out the sex'. I know the most important part of it is the anomaly scan but he was just trying to be positive about it!

the midwife was rude to me when I metioned movements at 17 weeks im 19 weeks now and I no its the baby she said I won't feel anything till 24 weeks but that's bullshit half of them have never been pregnant xx

I've heard from a few health professionals that you don't feel movement until past 20 weeks but heard very different from actual mums to be on this site and other forums! I think I trust the experience of people who've actually been there and felt it rather than those going by the textbooks. I know they're just doing their jobs but I kind of know I've never felt this feeling before so what else could it be apart from movement?

I am 17 weeks and definitely feeling the baby move. It's feels like bubbles or more recently it has been feeling like strong taps. At my 16 week midwife appointment my midwife said that will be the baby moving and said it will get stronger soon Grin I think I could feel it at 15 weeks but it wasn't strong enough for me to be certain of that, just felt strange. I believe it is your baby moving!

I realised I could feel movement at 18 weeks, and realised I'd been feeling them for a while. I also had an anterior placenta.

I think they say you don't normally feel then until after 20 weeks so as not to worry the people who haven't felt anything yet.

Congratulations on your pregnancies, all!

I felt movement at 15 weeks and my MW thought this was great! Turns out my placenta is high and at the back, meaning I was always going to feel the movements sooner...

I felt movement at 18 weeks with DS1 and 15 weeks with DS2. I will be watching out for movement early this time (I'm 10+5) as I know what I'm looking for.

I felt some small movements at 15 weeks too. I'm 21 weeks now and for the last 2 weeks my little blighter has been kicking and somersaulting to it's hearts content. The 20w scan last week showed how active it is so it wasn't my imagination!! Congrats - it is a lovely albeit strange sensation and one I'm not sure I'm going to get used to. I love the constant reminder that it is still there even if it feels a little weird :)
