Hi everyone,

I'm 38 weeks pregnant with my first baby, I went to the midwife on Tuesday and she told me that the little one is back to back, but not to worry because she may turn during labour.

After looking on the Internet there seems to be so many horror stories of 30 hour labours with forceps and emergancy c sections. I desperately wanted to get in the pool, is that possible with a b2b birth?

Also am I right in thinking that my awful back pain is due to the baby being back to back?

I was apprehensive about giving birth but excited too.... Now I'm terrified and I don't know whether ill cope. I was hoping for some advice and if anyone has had a back to back birth to share their experiences. Also if during labour they say they want to try forceps can I refuse and ask for a section as I REALLY don't want both.

Thanks girls.x

Oh my word.... THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, you've all put my mind at ease, what will be will be.

So nice to hear so many positives when all I seem to be told are the downsides to a b2b labour... Need to remember there's going to be a big reward at the end :D

THANKS GIRLS :)

My baby was b2b (must have flipped over in last 24 hours because she was on the other side when the ME checked me 2 days before). I had a rapid labour! Contractions for an hour and 25 minutes, pushed for 15! Yes it hurt but a. I didn't get time for much pain relief and b. she was my first so I don't have any comparison. My best advice with labour is to go with the flow. Just try to take deep breaths (I kept forgetting). At the end of it, you'll have a baby and the labour is such a short part of that process :)

My first was back to back and yes I did get a lot of back pain, she never turned in labour but I did manage to give birth to her after 18 hours of labour, an epidural at 6cm's and alot of tears.. lol I think considering it's your first baby you won't no the difference between the two and either way its going to hurt, the only problem I found was when it got to the pushing stage I couldn't feel myself push because her head wasn't pressing on my cervix.
