Any Wirral mums to be?

Hi ladies,

I'd really like some advice if anyone can help! I'm 7 weeks pregnant, have been to my GP and was told that I would be referred to Arrowe Park for their midwife services. I got a letter in the post yesterday providing me with a booking reference and password and telling me to call Arrowe Park to make an appointment. I did, but was only given my 12 week scan appointment. I called my GP today and explained that I needed a booking in appointment, but was told that this has to be booked through Arrowe Park. So, I made another call to Arrowe Park, only to be told that my appointment for my booking in appointment and first scan will be sent to me by post. Clearly no one knows what is going on and I'm now confused. I have a 12 week scan appointment already, but now it sounds like I'm going to get another one! Anyone able to shed any light on this? I'm confused!

No idea, but have you had a look at one to one midwives? They are based on the Wirral (I don't live too far away and am going through them) rather than seeing a different midwife each time :)

Hi, I've got a booking appointment at Arrowe on Monday. They've told me to come with a full bladder and keep mentioning scan in the letter so I can only assume they do booking in and 12 week scan at the same time. I shall let you know what happens on Monday.

Also no idea am afraid but second rockchick and strongly recommend having a look at one to one midwives, service is a million times better than hospital/community midwives. I'm in Liverpool and using them for current pregnancy, just had my 12 weeks scan with them and it was calm no wait lovely and relaxed and everything explained in detail by sonographer. Was really lovely :)
They also do booking in and all app's at home which is fab!

Really worth having a look!

One to one! send them a message on their website and they'll call and arrange you a booking appointment by the next day.

Thanks for your posts everyone. I've got my appointment now for 13th September which will be booking in and scan. It just seems like such a long time to wait, and annoying when I see that so many other ladies are being seen at 8 weeks. Ho hum! Will see how my 12 week appointment goes then will consider one to one as I've heard really good things about them x

I had my first with nhs/arrowe. Reason your booking in is later is because they do the dating scan and booking appointment combined at the hospital. This time with one to one I had my booking appointment at home at 6 weeks, then scan (private appointment at Wallasey or Birkenhead medical centre) and was met with the same midwife there. And I've seen the same midwife at home for every other appointment and scan since. My routine appointments average an hour too, and are scheduled to suit, any time between morning and late evening. I'd highly recommend.

you can see your local community midwife prior to your hospital scan and booking appointment if you want to. Just phone the community midwives office and they will arrange an appointment for you at your surgery.
