33 weeks pregnant and painful baby movements just below ribs

I have been getting painful baby movements just below my right ribs. Baby has been on my right side the whole pregnancy. When its sore i feel it and can feel something small and when i touch it its sore. This is my second child and i never experienced any pain with my first. The movements are not into my ribs, its below my ribs. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had awful pain in and below my right ribs for most of my last trimester with DD. It was the worst part of the pregnancy, and I had pretty vile nausea. Sitting caused / really exacerbated it (I did my desk job to 39 weeks). Physios told me it's fairly common with shorter women (I am 5'4"), bigger babies (DD was 8lb 2), and sometimes just because of the positioning (DD was head own, bum in my ribs for months, didn't shift).

I got relief from walking and lying down (though it reached the point where the soreness was continuous), cold gel packs, warm baths, stretching. Apparently massage can work wonders but money was tight.

All that said, I don't know it is you can feel. Is it like a mass? I would see your GP, both for their opinion and to get an urgent physio referral-preferably one who specialises in women's health. They are often better on anatomy than doctors.

Good luck, you have my sympathies, it was awful. Oh! It went the second she was born Smile

Its definatley just when the baby moves in a certain way and sorry to be gross but feels like a bone i can feel but its sore when it happens and sore to touch. Im not worried, just uncomfortable. Its so strange as i never experienced any of these strange movements before lol!

I would get whatever you can feel checked, can't hurt!

Maybe it's a hard little head? I'm 35 weeks and my baby is breech. Her head presses into the top of my bump and it is very sore..it feels bruised.

I've had this since 32 Weeks...baby is def head down as had several scans for other reasons. she's all lying on the left, my bump is clearly lopsided! Its her bum and her wee legs that are causing the rib pain...even the sonographer said I must be very uncomfortable the way she's lounging!

Poppetty that's what I was going to say. DD1 was breech and her head was just under my ribcage - so uncomfortable.

OP make sure you know for sure which way up your baby is! We didn't know DD1 was breech (stupid midwife said her head was her bum), they were inducing me at 38 weeks because my waters had broken, could have all gone horribly wrong. Thank goodness the consultant asked. You don't induce a breech baby, apparently it's incredibly dangerous for both baby and mum. They couldn't wait any longer for labour to start naturally due to risk of infection so I had an unplanned CS. (I don't like saying emergency CS because that makes it sound dangerous and like we were in some sort of distress but thank goodness we weren't).

Good luck Smile

Pinkr that was DD! By about 34 weeks I was giving her hard little bum a good shove to try to move her....didn't work. Now she's out she is similarly hard headed determined!

I get these pains top right of my bump even though he's definitely head down and 1/5 engaged.
No idea what it is really - a bum, leg, knee... something like that.... the best 'cure' is to stand up as it definitely happens when I've been sitting a lot and my ribs have slumped down towards my pelvis reducing the amount of space he has.

I have this too :/ apparently baby is lying diagonally across my tummy with her head right up under my right hand side ribs, whenever she pushes out it really feels bruised and tender.. but the midwife said its normal because of how she's lying, im also 32 weeks and she currently weighs 5lb :s
