im confused... baby boy would kick everytime i ate something or laid down... hes normally quite active, jiggling about all day, but over the last week hes quietening down.....

he'll kick in very early morning and late at night but in between its quiet...

ive been keeping a watch on his heartbeat with my doppler, he has a strong heartbeat and kicks at the probe like nuts... but a few minutes after i stop he goes quiet again Blush

should i be bothering the labour ward about it as theres less movements, even though he goes crazy at dopplers and has a good hb? or should i assume this is just him settling into a sleep/active pattern?
i think im just abit unnerved by the change in activity Confused

im 27 weeks and otherwise healthy and the pregnancys been fine so far xx

I'm no expert but I would phone the ward for advice, the number will be on the front of your maternity notes. It may be nothing but best to reassure yourself so you are not worrying all night.

Unless you are medically trained to recognise what a 'normal' foetal heartbeat sounds like as opposed to a distressed heartbeat I wouldn't be overly reliant on your Doppler as they can give false reassurance.

Hope you are ok.

I'm 23 weeks and when I saw mw at 22 weeks she told me that if I am ever concerned about baby's movements after about 24 weeks ALWAYS call them and to never worry about wasting their time as it's the one thing they take very seriously.

She also said not to worry too much and most of the time baby is fine but they always always check just because of the rare occasion where there is a problem.

I'm not meaning to worry you but i just wanted to let you know as I am the type that puts off calling mw because I worry about wasting their time and she was really reassuring that with movement it's never a waste and to always always call.

So worth a call just to put your mind at ease if you are worried Smile

Good luck Thanks x

ANY change in movement should be checked out. Please call and let us know.

Ring maternity ward now, it really really isn't worth the risk, better to go and be safe than not. Just because there's a heartbeat doesn't mean there aren't issues. (There probably is nothing wrong, but better safe than sorry)

I would get checked if only to put your mind at ease. I'monly 23 weeks but the other day I felt less movements so phoned my mw. She was great and listened with doppler and all s great baby just changed position but it really reassured me and she was great about it! X

Honey I have also noticed a change in movements over the past 10 days - I am 27 weeks tomorrow. I was monitored for an hour on Wednesday and all was ok. The thing is I am still getting movements, they are just now at different times. I also struggle to keep track of movements when I am busy, walking lots and not getting a chance to sit quietly - which happens often as I am so busy at work and have a 3 year old! When I think I haven't had a kick or felt a movement in a while I sit quietly for a few minutes and every time I get movement or kicks.

If your worried get checked out.

id defo recommend it for late second trimester onwards, when the kicks are obvious movements... its from the count the kicks campaign x
