it is recommended that when you're contractions are lasting for 60 seconds, are 5 minutes apart and you've been having them for an hour you should ring the hopsital.

but my mw said that if i get to this stage and can still breathe through my contractions, then i should ring the hospital when i can no longer breathe through them.

just thought i'd mention this, cos i know there are many people out there like me who hate hospitals and would probably prefer to stay at home longer than they have been told they should if they can manage it.

My mw told me to ring & go to hospital when contractions were 5 minutes apart, never mentioned anything about being able to breathe through them.

As it happened I had 3 contractions 15 mins apart then they went down to every 2 mins, but strangely enough they didn't hurt. DS2 arrived 10 minutes after getting to hospital so I'm pleased that I didn't have the advice about the breathing iykwim Smile

yeah, the length of the trip to the hospital has alot to do with it too, I have a 35 mins journay when I decide to go..........in like 7 months Grin

my journey is literally about 2 minutes in the car - could walk it in 20!! maybe that's why she said it cos she knew getting there quikcly wouldn't be a problem.
