13 weeks pregnant and none of my clothes fit me

I'm 13 weeks with my first and I'm massive :( I'm really bloated, I've got a bump coming along, I seem to have put weight on everywhere. None of my jeans fit me, my leggings are too tight. I wear dresses for work and only one fits me now - so I live in that 5 days a week then on my days off just wear baggy t shirts round the house.

Do I have to start buying maternity already? I don't want to pay loads. Anyone got any good suggestions?

My suggestion is stretchy dresses. Seraphine are really good for work dresses and I was able to wear them the whole way through. Isabella Oliver are at the final markdown of their sale, so if I was 13 weeks I'd get stuff there (I only have 3 months to go so can't justify it).

As long as you aren't eating KFCs for breakfast I really wouldn't worry about chubbying up a bit, life's too short and it comes off quickly with a bit of effort.

Thanks crazyhead :) I will have a look on the suggested sites. Do you know if H&M maternity range is any good?

H&M maternity is brilliant but mainly because it is the only shop.on the high steet that actually stocks the whole range there rather than online.

I can vouch for their maternity leggings at 7.99 a pair and their Maternity tights which are again about 7 but I have had my two pairs for three years (am.now onto my secnd pg) and they only have a slight tear in the waist (tights that is), which is pretty good going!

Their tshirts are long and comfy. Im not sure of the jeans ive never tried as I just borrowed jeans last pg and am yet to buy any this pg. THeir non manternity string vests 3.99 are actually amazing - very long lenth and stretchy so covered my whole bump the whole way through and pinged back afterwards. THpse vests

oops

are now on their second pregnancy too!

Honestly I cant speak highly enough of the place. Got pretty much all my babywear from there too as it is great at doing unisex stuff that isnt just lemon.

MortifiedAdams · 01/08/2013 16:16

Should add, it is avaliable online but their delivery is shite so the stuff might arrive while you are in labour. Or droppibg the little one off at school.

Great :) DP's just got in from work so we're off to Mothercare for a nosy round and will do H&M too so I can stock up! I'm not looking to spend loads on mat clothes so just going to buy normal cheap stuff where I can and then maternity clothes for things like leggings. I've been so uncomfortable in jeans lately I think I'm just gonna spend the next 6 months in leggings! Do sort of wish I wasn't having a winter baby though, not looking forward to wrapping up in layers and trudging through snow when heavily pregnant!

H&M sizing in their maternity range is tiny so don't be upset if you need to go up a size or 3

Meglet · 01/08/2013 16:31

You probably won't get that cold once you're heavily pregnant. Babies are little furnaces.

I was in maternity from 12 weeks both times, my usual wardrobe (trousers for work / skinny jeans for casual) didn't exactly have much room for growth. I did go back to my pre-pregnancy size by the way, I just had a big bump and needed comfy clothes early on.

Anothermrssmith · 01/08/2013 21:07

I bought my first pair of maternity jeans at 10 weeks (just the ones with streachy side panels, not the full over the bump ones). So comfy I can honestly say I may never stop wearing them - ever! If you don't mind buying online then next have a good range of maternity wear, plenty of things you can get now that will last most of your pregnancy

Xmasbaby11 · 01/08/2013 23:30

You definitely won't get cold! DD was born in Jan and my winter coat didn't do up but it didn't matter. Don't think I needed hat or scarf all winter either!

I second what people say about H and M, although don't expect a wide range of maternity clothes anywhere. My advice is to buy a few nice things that are comfy and you feel good in. You will be in them for a long time (few months post birth for me)!

Meglet · 02/08/2013 07:02

In fact, I'm still wearing my stretchy maternity track pants around the house 7yrs on. They're so comfy and the waistband folds down to fit my waist. Bit like yoga pants really. Money well spent.

GeordieCherry · 02/08/2013 07:09

Yes to H&M; I got 2 pairs of leggings & a Breton top & I already had several of those long string vests a pp mentioned. They're ace & good for bf once the baby is here too Smile

Don't buy too much!

And I couldn't wear lots of my 'own' clothes after about 10 weeks. No bump, just went fatter to start off with so don't worry

And congratulations! Thanks

I'm 14 weeks with dc2 and I am abour the size I was at 20 weeks with ds! I'm in full maternity clothes already! My poor stomach muscles!

charlottesweb87 · 02/08/2013 08:42

LOVE h&m! The only place I have been successful at finding a nice maternity range that fits great. I purchased some jeans from there yesterday and they are nicer than my normal jeans! Grin

Lots of maternity sales at the mo. try Jojo manan and mamas and papas. GAP have a sale on line with lots of voucher codes around too
