Irritable uterus???

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with our third and for the last few weeks have been experiencing more and more intense contractions especially if I'm on my feet or bending over a lot. Twice they have turned into regular contractions lasting a few hours but go after resting. Yesterday I worked until 1 and had contractions most of the day and overnight.
They are not bh contractions - sometimes I end up sat on the floor until they pass! I think from reading a bit I have an irritable uterus but I don't know what to for best. I'm off work today but I really can't afford to start mat leave yet.
Can anyone help?? Any advice on whether I'm ok to carry on or should be resting? Mw was fairly vague and just said 'well you're not in labour yet so you should be ok'. That was it.
Sorry for the essay.

I had this, nightmares, isn't it? I could barely walk across the car park at work! When are you due to go on mat leave? What's your role at work? It's worth seeing if you can do lighter duties. You could get signed off sick if you really can't manage but your employer can make you start your mat leave at 34 weeks. I powered through to 35+3 (I'm a nurse) but I swapped from 12 hours shifts to 7.5 hour shifts. I've already told DH if we have another I'll finish earlier!

It's rubbish! I'm a vet so no light work really available and even 4 hours yesterday was a nightmare. The lovely nurses I work with are really trying to help me as much as they can already. I get ssp and smp so if i go off now either way it means less time with baby once he arrives. so am desperate to work as long as possible but don't know whether I'm putting the baby at risk by carrying on.

I was told it can increase the risk of early labour. I eventually had DD at 38+5 so not too early despite carrying on! No-one can make the decision for you. Difficult I know, I struggled with that balance myself.

Thanks so much for the reply. It's just a bit of a shock after working up to 38 weeks last time! I have a mw appointment on Friday so I might see what she says.

Hi. I had a difficult pregnancy and I remember that feeling of not being ablw ro do much work, otherwise contravtions would start. i had ds at 35+5. No one wad sure why a premature birth, but definitely the contractions did not help. mention it to Mw and let her know your concerns. I am sure she will give you good advice.

Hi I know as soon as I do anything at all now I get mild contractions and if I carry on they get more frequent and more painful.
Did you get any advice about anything you could do to reduce them??

I was told to rest whenever they came on ha! I would sit down whenever I could though. I also found they weren't as bad when I was well hydrated.

People keep asking me if we'll have another baby soon (DD is 15 weeks) and I say there's no rush, after that experience I won't be rushing into getting pregnant again too soon!
