C- section, anterior placenta previa and transverse baby !

Anybody had this ? I had a massive bleed a few weeks ago, had been told at 20 weeks my placenta was low, turns out its a grade 3 placenta previa. Baby is stuck in an odd transverse position, probably due to the placenta and the placenta is anterior. I will be having a section in 4 weeks, at 38 weeks. It was briefly mentioned it will be done by senior surgeons due to the complications, but a silly google brings up lots of scary reading :/ So, anyone had similar ? Apparently, so google says, they can cut through the placenta ??

I had exactly the same and my son was born by c-section at 38 weeks.I was lucky and had no bleeding beforehand but had got myself into a right tizz looking at google. Really didn't want a section (had DS naturally 4 years previously) but placenta hadn't budged. But honestly the whole experience was fine. Section was calm, surgeons really nice and reassuring. There was a full team there and I was first in that day in case of problems. I lost quite a lot of blood and narrowly missed transfusion, but placenta came out
intact and baby was fine. It was so much better than I had imagined so try not to worry!

I had 2 Grade 4 placenta praevias and both babies were transverse. My ob told me that babies are often transverse with a major praevia. DC1 was an EMCS at 34 weeks - I'd known in advance that it was going to be a CS but they'd hoped to wait til 38 weeks. DC2 made it to 38 weeks and was a scheduled CS.

IME, the pregnancy and the bleeds are scarier than the delivery. Both sections were fine, even the EMCS. Babies were perfect. I did need transfusions but that was down to blood loss from the bleeds during pregnancy more than because of the sections. Because it is higher risk than most sections and because they've identified the issue in advance you should find that you get very good care - experienced staff who are ready to spot problems and deal with them straight off.

The internet stuff on it is terrifying. Try to focus on what you've been told is relevant to you and if you need to ask your ob/midwife more, then don't be afraid to. At your stage I was advised to lie down in order to keep the baby's weight off the placenta and to go to hospital straight away if there was any blood at all or any contractions - the advice for you might be different but I personally would ask the hospital. I think if you were to bleed again at this stage they'd probably either do an EMCS or keep you in hospital until delivery.

Best of luck and try not to dwell on the net stuff - it really does cover all the worst case scenarios and the main thing is that your medical team have identified the issue and are ready for it.

Thank you both :) I think theres only horror stories on google :/ I have been told to rest, but i have 4 other children and the littlest 2 are only 1 and 2 !! this will be my first section :/ i'm hoping as they are fully aware of the issues it will be ok, well as ok as major surgery can be !
