Should I contact the hospital? - consultant led care.

I am 38+3 and I have been to various scans and consultant appointments due to a high BMI.

I have not booked another consultant appointment and no one has notified me about when I need to be seen. I see the community midwife every week but being consultant led I'm confused to what the usual care is in late pregnancy.

I haven't got a birth plan and I'm worried they have forgot about me.

Is it worth a call? Or do all consultants stand back until you go into labour naturally?

Some consultants refer back to comm midwife and let them do all the care so long as growth scans and GTT are within normal range. I don't see any reason why you'd need to go back?

I'd mention it on your next midwife appt and she can always call them to check.

Re birth plan - just jot down what you'd like / not like etc, how you plan to feed, partner cutting cord, active / physiological 3rd stage etc etc. Do it before your next mw appt and then ask if she'd go through it with you

Normally the consultant will see you once and if necessary recommend you have an epidural sited for labour, refer you to an anaesthetist if necessary and advise you if they feel continuous monitoring is needed. All of these will depend on how high your bmi is. They'll also advise about gtt test.

Then it's back to the community midwife. Who will refer you to see the consultant again if she has any concerns about growth, etc.
