ELCS in Edinburgh

Am 33 weeks with DC3 and planning an ELCS this time as have had two previous EMCS.
At first consultant appt, doc said I would be having baby at ERI as previous sections weren't totally straightforward and I've got a lot of adhesions.
Saw another doc yesterday who was pressuring me to agree to go to St John's in Livingston as there's less chance of the op being delayed due to an emergency.

St John's is a 1 hr round trip for DH and the DSs, ER is 15 mins.

Has anyone had an ELCS at ERI and were you delayed? Thanks.

I had an EMCS with DD at ERI and then 2 years ago a ELCS with DS there. I was actually admitted a few days earlier than expected for the ELCS, went in first thing and was told pretty quickly I would be next in for surgery, 9 hours later DS was born. basically because I wasn't an emergency I kept getting bumped down the list.

I wouldn't have wanted to go to St Johns either at the time but since having DS I have had to go through to St. John's every couple of weeks for a completely unrelated health issue and I actually really like it there. I am in south ed so it only takes about 40 minutes and once you know where it is it is really easy to get to, parking is free and hospital is small and friendly.

Having said that the wait time at ERI wasn't bad, and 100% better experience than the EMCS with DD.

Hope it all works out well for you wherever you end up.

I've no experience of sections, but I can tell you that St John's is a lovely hospital, with great staff, free parking (and there's almost always a space) and that it's CLEAN. The same cannot always be said of the Royal.
