Reclining bouncer or swing for newborn

Hi

I was thinking of having the baby in a bouncer during the day but most of them don't lie flat. Can anyone suggest one that does. I've been researching so much and can't find any. The only other option is to get the Tiny Love 3-in-1 Rocker Napper but I wanted something I could pick up and take into the bathroom for when I have a shower.

😁

I have a mamas and papas swing which lies virtually flat and is portable though not with the baby in it. The swing was a great purchase but you could only use it for short periods, long enough to make a drink or eat your tea. Mine grew out of quite quickly too.

I also have a bright starts chair and a baby beanbag, both still get used now they are 2.7 years and 15 months.

I wouldn't leave a baby in them all day though, not sure if that is your intention. They are all quite restrictive as they are harnessed in.

They are not designed to have a baby in for long periods of time, something to do with the way they curve the baby's spine (same as car seats, shouldnt be in them for longer than 45 mins at a time). You could always use a moses basket on the floor in the bathroom if there's space. I have a bright starts chair and my 21 month old still uses it.

Dont bother wastin money on a swing, baby gets used to movement so it can sleep which makes putting it down in cot to sleep hard. I had bouncers with both mine and will do again, they are fraction of cost and u can find some that lay pretty flat, got mine from argos in sale for tenner! Plus they are in these things for very short amounts of time xx

The thing is lozza lot's of them are already used to the movement from being inside you for so long Grin

I got bought a bouncer then bought myself the fisherprice 3 in 1 swing and loved it.
it was better than all the other swings I looked at as it had 2x swing speeds, a heavier weight allowance for the swing meaning I got more use out of it. The chair then unclips from the swing to become a chair which is great as its really lay back and virtually impossible for little people to get out of. finally when you don't need the chair to be so far back ie for a toddler it turns into a rocking chair...one of the best buys I got....
I have had so much more use out of this than a bouncer and its still going strong nearly 2 years later. also ny baby settled so much more with the swing action than bouncing.

I can't recommend the baby bjorn babysitter highly enough. I don't know what we'd have done without out - it's a bouncer but very well made and our son used to sit in it happily for ages.

No point in having a flat one. The baby won't (shouldn't be) sleeping in there. I use mine a fair bit but would say that DS is in it for maybe half an hour max at any one time. More useful for us has been his activity gym which he is on every day for chunks of time playing happily.

Thanks guys. Will have a look at your reccomondations and also consider just getting a play gym as you have a point about not having the baby in it for a long length of time which was my intention x

My baby snoozes happily in the pram carrycot on the bathroom floor while I am in the shower. She has a bouncing chair suitable from birth but only spends short periods in it at the moment.

MrsDexter · 21/07/2013 18:30

I didn't think about using the carrycot :)
