... or is it just the heat?! Confused

I don't want to have to start going to A&E. I've googled it and i'm still not sure what to do.

I've got my feet up - DH is worried ...

What do you all think please?

Give the midwife a call? And think about what you've been eating? I developed an intolerance to msg after a Chinese in pregnancy and 9 years later I go up a shoe size for 3 days if I eat something with it in.

fluffyraggies · 16/07/2013 20:43

Thank you dame :) The midwife will want my BP checked wont she? And or urine? I cannot see her saying 'oh it's the heat' over the phone, as much as i'd like her to.

I'm so hot and tired i just cant face getting off the sofa to go anywhere Blush Just waiting for bed time! That's a terrible attitude isn't it?

But DH is muttering about 'better safe than sorry'. sigh. I'm convinced it is the heat, but i was so surprised to see my puffy ankles and fat tops of foot. I'm not normally a puffy person ...

I haven't eaten anything odd. Haven't even done all that much standing or walking today.

At 13 weeks I'd be very very surprised if it was anything but the heat, I'm sporting lovely pregnant lady ankles at the minute but haven't been pregnant for 4 years. Do you have any visual symptoms or abdominal pain? I'd see how it goes overnight personally but by all means give your assessment unit a call.

Call the MW. That's what they get paid for. Good luck. Xxx

Blanketsandpillows · 16/07/2013 20:55

I imagine its just the heat. But there is no harm in ringing the MW for peace of mind

fluffyraggies · 16/07/2013 20:56

Thank you both :)

I've texted the MW!

I feel a bit of a nit. But you're right Fraggle.

I am an 'older mum', and havn't been preg for more than 4 years. Both red flags (been googling). We'll see what she says ...

Best to get checked out and it be nothing than sitting worrying and it possibly being something.

fluffyraggies · 16/07/2013 21:32

Well - it's been over half an hour since texting and no reply. So MW not frantically worried then Grin

Perhaps i should have rung 111? Not had to contact a MW in the evening before.

I think i'll just go to bed and see how the swelling is in the night during one of the many trips to the loo morning.

Just make sure you elevate your legs on two pillows. I'm sure things will be fine GrinGrinGrinxxx

fluffyraggies · 16/07/2013 21:38

xxx will do, thank you :)

My advice is not text the MW. Far to easy for them to ignore and sometimes a reassuring voice is all you need.

PeanutPatty · 16/07/2013 21:57

*to = too

soupmaker · 16/07/2013 23:09

If you have no other symptoms its most likely the heat. I am 38 weeks and have normal feet and ankles for about 5 minutes every morning before the swelling starts all over again.

Get your feet up and if its still there in the morning ring MW for some advice.

And step away from Dr Google!

mumoftwoboysS · 19/07/2013 20:30

my feet and ankles are huge due to the heat! If you have no other symptoms and hands aren't swollen then you should be ok (thats what my mw told me) elevate them and ice packs in bed help too!

fluffyraggies · 19/07/2013 20:57

Thought i'd update. Thanks for all your advice ladies :)

MW never texted back, but i'm ok, so ..... that's just as well Grin

Have found it's only my ankles and tops of feet that are now prone to getting puffy if i spend too much time standing/walking or driving in the heat. I've felt really sicky today, but worked out if was prob'ly because my waistband was a bit tight as i felt better as soon as i took it off. I didn't realise. Dur.

:)

Glad it's worked out. Obviously if it happens again in 6 months press the panic button Grin
