Advice on slow/ first stage of labour

I have been awake all night with what I think are braxton hicks contractions. Coming roughly every 10 mins, not painful at all and I am able to walk, talk and breathe through them.

I had a cervical stitch removed on Thursday, so I am not sure if I have lost the mucus plug or I am still having discharge from the operation.

I am also having strong period type cramping pain fairly constantly, it isn't really coming and going. Well, not really pain, I don't need to take painkillers to cope with them, but certainly discomfort! This is combined with a strong feeling I need to poo, even after I have already been.

This has all been pretty steady, it is not getting better or worse really.

I know things can start and stop, and go on for ages, so I don't want to freak out and panic over nothing. My worry is that I have an ELCS booked and I don't want to leave things too long if that would make a section more complicated?

I am 36+5 and the section is booked for 39 weeks.

rainbox ring your midwife or maternity bleep, explain the situation and see what they say. But with my experience it does sound like it.

My body purged itself, poo and sick, then constant period type pain, unfortable feeling, then tigthenings of the womb that got closer togther, mine didn't hurt either untill I got to the hospital and was told I was 5cm.

Good luck hun.

Sound exactly like what's happening to me, in 40+4 and its getting very frustrating now just wish things wud kick in properly now :(

Op, definitely ring mw or triage. I did yesterday for reduced movement and everything was fine but I got much needed reassurance. Hai, I'm 40+4 too...it's rubbish isn't it...I think it must be nature's way of helping with the fear. Too impatient to be scared.

After a quick chat with the hospital, they are happy to have me stay at home and monitor things here. She thought it sounded like "niggles" rather than labour and it should probably stop on it's own! Really glad I called though. Such a worrywort!
