Has anyone else not had any Braxton Hicks?

I am 37 weeks pregnant and to my knowledge I haven't had a single braxton hicks. The baby is engaged and I am getting the odd twinge but everyone keeps saying that I should be getting lots of braxton hicks as a sign that labour is coming. Just wondered if anyone else was in my position??

I'm 36 weeks & exactly the same. I've read that some women don't feel them - maybe that's what's happening?

I'm only 32+3, but none here either. I think I'd quite like a few cos I think they'd be good for breathing practice!

You might have had them but just not realised it. It sounds silly but I didn't know I was having them until one coincided with a scan appt (I've had a few late scans due to concerns over growth, all fine though) and the sonographer told me I was having a BH. That was at about 33 weeks and it was news to me! I had noticed the bump feeling tight and hard but just thought Junior was moving around and stretching me out more as it wasn't at all painful, just felt a bit weird. Haven't had many since, they tend to happen when I've been overdoing it. But some women don't get them at all so I'm sure it's nothing to worry about!

I never had a braxton hicks. DD is now here! Sadly I did have contractions!

LazyMonkeyButler · 15/07/2013 17:44

Me neither and I have 3 DCs! Grin

I always felt like I was missing out on something Grin.

Contractions though - well, if I could have had those without feeling them I really would have been happy!

Christelle2207 · 15/07/2013 18:24

i was told we all get them but many of us dont realise. I am 37 weeks and only started noticing about a week or so.

Sluggers · 15/07/2013 22:30

I've been wondering about this too. Thanks Artemis for describing how it felt. Now I'm wondering if I am having them!

Can anyone else describe how it feels?

poocatcherchampion · 16/07/2013 07:46

none here and I'm 33 weeks with dc2.

Backpaw · 16/07/2013 07:49

You can have 'silent' ones - your tummy muscles feel like they are tightening. It can feel like the baby giving you a kick or elbow into your tummy muscles.

LastButOneSplash · 16/07/2013 07:51

I didn't have any I know of and am now sat here trying to entertain my baby

ScottishDiblet · 16/07/2013 07:55

I never felt any at all. My daughter is 20 wo now. I went into labour at 41+1 the day I was due for induction. Good luck!

DaveMccave · 16/07/2013 09:45

Didn't feel a single one with my first. I thought it was more common not to notice them with your first than to feel them? This time I get a sort of unpleasant adrenaline rush/heart palpitation thing. I've only just cottoned on that these are when I have a BH. My tummy feels a bit firm if I touch it but I wouldn't have noticed without the adrenaline thing.

rubyanddiamond · 16/07/2013 12:19

I didn't notice any with DC1, although was induced before due date.

With DC2 I started noticing them at night from about 39 weeks, but I don't feel them in the day. I only know I have them in the day as had one this morning while mw examined me, and she mentioned it.

moominmaiden · 16/07/2013 14:22

I'm 38+1 and have only noticed mine in the last week. Nothing before then, and now they are really strong, so there is still time for you to get them!

dastardly chuckle
