Tips for long journey at 36 weeks

DP and I are going away for a few days this week (I'm 36 +4) and although he is driving it is still a journey of at least 5 hours each way.

I'm lucky in that I have no health issues or SPD but if anyone has any tips on how to make it a more comfortable experience, particularly in this heat, I'd be very happy to hear them!
Thanks

Ooh watching with interest - Im doing exactly the same thing at 36 weeks (in a week and a half)

Lots of snacks, drinks, get the air con serviced and make sure ur route has plenty of pee stops!

I guess wear something comfortable too - we drove 4 or so hours a few weekends ago and my maternity jeans were really digging in, had to change into leggings halfway through!

Leggings or PJ's mat jeans are not comforatble for 5hrs, something to rest your feet on, plenty of pee breaks and time for a couple of little walks to strech your legs, and a back support/cushion.

I'm only 33wks but drive a lot for work and these things help me.

We did four hours each way this weekend - am 37 weeks today. Definitely make sure the aircon works - ours was serviced last week, but broke again on Friday and it was grim. Lots of loo breaks. And don't be surprised if your ankles are 10 times their normal size once you get to where you are going - mine were massive by the end (they're back to just a bit swollen like normal today). I wore a really light cotton dress which seemed to help a bit. Oh, and ice lollies at each services :)

I was going to suggest considering flight socks to help minimise ankle swelling.

Roll up a towel and put it behind your lower back - it will support your pelvis in a better position.

I would take hospital bag, notes and car seat with me - but then I went into labour unexpectedly at 32 weeks..

Thanks sensible ladies of mn!
Got leggings and floaty dresses. Been really lucky and not had swollen ankles yet but will try to keep moving and stop regularly.
Good advice on back support I'd not thought of that.
All I need now is for bump to stay put (got hosp bag, notes and car seat just in case)
