Measuring 1cm bigger than number of weeks

At 34+3 I measured 35cm....my bump is huge and get told at least 4-5 times a day how huge my bump is and how its not normal.

Am tall and slim pre pregnancy so wonder if that's that makes the bump appear bigger but whatever it is, I can't cope with constant comments on how "not right" and "too big" I am for 8 months.

Anyone else dealing with this?

I know it's hard but try to ignore the comments. Everyone is different and I think it all depends on how the baby is lying, how much amnoitic fluid there is, posture, what you're wearing etc. I spent the first half of my last pregnancy being told how small I was and the second half how big, and I measured 1cm over my weeks. Baby was born a perfect 7lbs 6oz but apparently I had excess waters. I'm halfway through my second pregnancy and keep getting told I'm small but I don't feel it. I don't understand why pregnant women become public property. I would never comment on another woman's bump and so it amazes when other mums do. If you're feeling brave you could come up with a smart reply or just nod and smile and try not to let it upset you. Medically, 1cm over is nothing. If the mw was worried she'd be sending you for growth scans.

my mw said you can be 3cm either way of your number of weeks and she wouldn't be concerned!!

It is hard. And it's weird. I'm 31 weeks and measuring 31cm, and some people say that I don't look big at all, others think I look huge.

I feel huge (especially in this heat) but I does bug me the way every body feels the need to comment andi have been getting quite agitated (I guess it's the heat)

I had both: Wow, you're sooo big! Gosh, how tiny you are, you don't look 9 months! bla-de-bla!

I was 4cm over from about 7m.

Bumps come in all shapes and sizes - you wouldn't have known I was pregnant from the back. I also had: you're carrying high, it's a girl/you're carrying high, it's a boy. Bolleaux Grin

You are COMPLETELY normal and as pp said, your midwife will send you for another scarn if she thought there was a problem.

Tyr and relax and enjoy your last month or six weeks if dc is cheeky

Thanks

You're measuring 5mm more than your weeks? Do you really believe your MW was accurate in her measuring to within 5mm??? I doubt that's even possible.

Even if it was possible to be that accurate I don't think they worry till you're more than 2cm bigger. And then they'd offer a growth scan which very often shows an average or smaller baby. If you haven't been offered a scan you're not even considered "big" so tell people to butt out!

People will always comment on the size of your bump, it is like some sort of inbuilt reaction, don't worry about it! And yes there is wriggle room for measurements as position of the baby etc can affect it too so it might measure differently at different times of day depending on where baby is sticking his bottom, if he is having a stretch and so on.

I'm thinking if getting a t-shirt printed with some obscenity telling people to keep their comments to themselves. The number of 'oooh you're tiny' comments I got drove me to get an unnecessary scan where the baby was placed on a perfectly acceptable 30th centile. I was also measuring 3cm out at midwife appointment but she wasn't worried. Try to ignore.
