Thursday morning i woke up to bleeding and passed a huge clot, obviously i went to hospital and was monitored for 24 hours. They could find no reason for the bleed but during the scan discovered baby is only on 10th centile :( anyone else had similar ? I have to go back in 2 weeks.

I've not (only 27 weeks), but remember 10th centile is normal. It's small, but anything on that scale is within normal range. Fingers crossed you get good news at next scan.

SoulTrain · 14/07/2013 11:15

As soupqueen says its normal for some babies to be born on the 10th centime and stay there - my friends little girl is 2 and still on it and she's perfect. What a shock for you though, hope the remainder of your pregnancy passes quickly and drama free Thanks

Lunatic is right-if they suspected IUGR, they woul have checked the blood flow through the cord.

My baby was born at 29 weeks after an emergency section. She has severe IUGR and was born 980g, which I believe was on the 0.4th percentile.
Dd1 however was born full term and was on the 9th percentile-perfectly normal.

Yes they have put IUGR on my notes, did doppler etc, this is my 5th baby and the rest have all been big, he was normal at 20 weeks on 50th centile, but has dropped to 10th :( at 32 weeks his estimated weight is 3lb9oz. I am a 30 min drive from my preferred hospital, but there is a nearer one that would be less than 5 mins in ambulance.

i haven't had a bleed during pregnancy but DS was off the charts small at 30 week scan so i was monitored for the remainder of the pregnancy and he charted continuously on the second (i think) percentile.

he was born at 38 weeks weighed 6lb 9 oz, so quite average really.

he's now 9 months old was on the 9th percentile until weaned at 6 months and is now following the 50th for weight and height.

scans can be enormously inaccurate.

good luck for the remainder of the pregnancy.

My dd was born at 32 weeks and as 4lb 8oz which I was told was big for that gestation. 3lb9oz sounds quite normal to me. Have they give you a plan? What did they say about the bleed?

tinkerbell666 · 14/07/2013 14:14

The plan is to go another 2 weeks then decide when they have seen how much he's grown, if its not much then they might deliver at 34 weeks, if he has then they'll continue to monitor, the bleed they really can't explain, but it wasn't small, i passed a clot the size of my fist ! Placenta looked normal but there were discussions around it not doing its job properly even though it looked fine.

They told me to rest, though no that easy with 4 other children ! i'm just petrified of bleeding again, though its unlikely it was abruption as it was painless.

OP posts:
Methe · 14/07/2013 14:32

I had a painless abruption with my ds so it's not impossible but any blood in your uterus should and have been picked up on the scan. If you bleed again,or have any pain what so ever you need to be in hospital asap ans if that means an ambulance then thats what you need to do.

It is impossible to relax in this situation. It used to piss me off no end when anyone said it to me.

My ds was iugr-picked up at around 27 weeks. I was scanned every 2 weeks and was induced at 37 weeks. My dc was 4lb 11oz.

If there are concerns over the placenta then please do not mess about going to a hospital 30 minutes away. If you feel the movements slow or feel no movements then go straight to your nearest hospital. Don't want to frighten you but you really have to be vigilant if there are issues with the placenta.

I wish you all the best.
