Movements?

I'm 26 weeks and bump seems to have taken a 'chill pill' - at what point should you worry? He usually thrashes around pretty much all day everyday snd has done for a few weeks now but the last 24 hours there has been less thrashing, I'm a bit conscious of this but dh thinks I'm overacting and shouldn't stress. As I write this I can feel some rolling/bubbly movement and have felt the odd movements today so I guess I'm wondering if it's likely baby has changed positions and thus I can feel much less, or if baby is more relaxed because ive been more relaxed today than normal? If I flick/poke my belly baby is generally responding so that's reassuring, just bit unsure what's normal in terms of movements varying?

Any change in movement should be checked out by a midwife. Give them a ring.

Personally, if I were you, I wouldn't worry. Especially since you're still feeling some movements which should definitely be reassuring for you. Baby still has lots of room at 26 weeks in the womb to curl up and hide away.

I found throughout my pregnancy (38 weeks now) my baby would move into a different position so I would feel less or he would have an off/lazy day just like me or you would. I had worked myself up and still do sometimes, but we have to remember they sleep too! lol.

If you continue to feel less and less to the point of nothing at all, then yes, give your midwife or the hospital a call straight away so you can go in for monitoring.

Please contact your maternity assessment unit/labour ward now. Whilst the chances are that everything is ok and your baby has just moved position, it's better to get checked out. You won't be wasting their time.

Waiting until the movements have stopped might be too late.

My DH thought I was overreacting. I went in to MAU anyway and it turned out DD's growth had slowed down and she was better on the outside. I was four days from my due date.

I dread to think what could have happened if I had listened to my DH, who thinks I worry too much. But when your put top of the list of four others for inductions that they wanted to do that morning, all ladies admitted via MAU that morning, proves I was right to get checked over.

Please please please go get checked out. Its the reason they are there.

Fx its nothing

Yes, get checked out, even if you're 99% sure its nothing. Change in movements needs investigating

RobotBananas · 14/07/2013 07:36

And don't wait until you feel 'nothing at all'. What terrible advice!

Thanks everyone. Have been awake perhaps 15 mins and baby is having its usual morning thrash, belly jumping around like normal which is very reassuring. Will keep a close eye on its movements this morning and if it isn't back to normal I'll call someone/head in this aft. Hopefully it was just having a quiet day - it did have the odd one in earlier weeks but so far so good this morning x
