Hi
It is the first time im writing about my experience over internet. And it is purely because I see that there are lot of people who had similar experience and feel im not alone and itt would feel better to discuss with you all. I had my first misscarriage three years ago at 17 th week. I have no children yet. I had started bleeding at 8th week and continued bleeding, was in and out of hospital several times. I had lost so much blood that it had become very dangerous for me to go without a blood transfusion, I was that weak. So the doctors gave me blood transfusion at 16th week and asked me to go back home and rest. In between these 8-16 weeks, the doctor was doing ultrasound almost every two days and I saw my baby growing properly and healthy. He would be jumping up and down :). I got so connected to him.But when I went to the doctor in the 17th week he found no heart beat. I was very very devastated. The doctor did an mc and soon after that i got infection. So I had to be in the hospital for another five days. Cried for many months. And didnt dare to try again for next two years. Then I got pregnant again, but I was very scared. And it happened again lost the pregnancy at six weeks. Then after an year got pregnant again, tried to be as careful as I can, still lost it at eight weeks. I dont know what to do I am exhausted, have lost all my confidence. And on top of that people around me say all kind of mean things to me inspite of knowing my situation. For your info, I had taken folic acid and multivitamins for each pregnancy and the doctors could not find anything wrong with me. :( Any suggestion that will help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello ladies..i had my first doctor's appointment after the last miscarriage.
They had taken some blood samples earlier which turned out to be normal. I have another appointment next week. I dont know what they are going to say next. Hope they dont find anything wrong. Wish me luck.

Hi wannabemommy - I also had 3 MCs, but after I'd had DS1. Each one was early, before the end of the first trimester, but still upsetting of course.

Because I already have a known blood clotting disorder, after the 1st MC, I was told to try 100mg aspirin daily - it didn't save the 2nd one. Then I was also given progesterone pessaries to help support the pg - they didn't save the 3rd one.

What I honestly believe made the difference was having my vitamin D levels checked and corrected - low vitamin D levels are implicated in both low subfertility and miscarriage - so when I got pg with DS2, my vit D levels were well within normal range. I also had the progesterone pessaries, and had graduated from aspirin to Clexane from the day I got my positive pregnancy test - but I still think the vit D made the biggest difference.

I should say as well that I'd been taking pregnancy multivitamins and minerals, and a fish oil capsule, almost daily since being pg with DS1 - because for the first 2y I was breastfeeding, and then because we were TTC a second child. This DID NOT give me enough vitamin D. I didn't continue to take the vitamin D in the first trimester of my pregnancy with DS2, because of uncertainty from the pharmacist of its safety (most probably overcautious), but when I was re-tested for vit D at about 14w pg, my levels had dropped markedly and I was put on 1000IU a day (as well as my normal pregnancy multi and fish oil).

I hope that some of this might help you - it might also be a good idea to get the blood test for thrombophilia done to see if there is any risk that you might have that and then you can get the prophylactic anti-clotting medication, just in case your MCs involved microclots.

Good luck - I hope you get your successful pregnancy and healthy baby very soon.

I just want to wish you all the luck in the world, try not to give up hope. My best friend had 3 miscarriages in a row and now has a beautiful handful of a son. She rested much more before trying and as soon as she conceived, and both her and her husband gave up smoking and drinking and ate really healthily for a few months before trying again. They tried to put no pressure on the situation. I don't know how much any of this made a difference but might help.

Really good luck, stay strong and never stop communicating with your partner how you feel x

Are you seeing a obs/gyn or just the GP? if it is just the GP he should be referring you to a recurrent miscarriage specialist after 3 m/c. We lost 7 babies before we had DD1, all bloods normal so they decided to throw meds at me and see how it went I was on prednisolone and aspirin from when I had a +ive test until I had my scan at 8 weeks.

wannabemommy. I'm so sorry for your losses, its such a traumatic thing to go through and people I don't think talk about it enough. Hugs x I had three miscarriages. I suspected a progesterone issue. However after much pushing and harassing from me my doctor transferred me reluctantly to a specialist Dr Anne Deans Who wrote the book 'your pregnancy bible' She is based up at Frimley Park Hospital in Hampshire Via the NHS. She was awesome. She had the approach very much like the American Doctors where by they will put you on medication as it may help but wont hurt. So I was to take 75mg of Baby aspirin from ovulation up to 34 weeks, a high dose of Folic acid 5mg (has to be prescribed although you can ebay it and take it whilst TTC and cyclogest (which is a synthetic progesterone 200mg x 2 a day (3 days after ovulation up to I think 14 weeks . It worked and I had my little man perfectly healthy at 39 weeks. I then got pregnant a couple years later without any of this medication and I had an ectopic. Which was traumatic. I moved county son after so had to get to know my GP but I managed to persuade her to prescribe me everything Dr Deans had prescribed me and I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant and under the care of another specialist where I live. I was tested after my three miscarriages and they couldn't find anything wrong but were slightly worried about an auto immune disorder ( as my mum has one) hence the baby aspirin. All I can say is be very aware of the medications you can take. The GP's will fob you off as this being one of those things but as you can see I don't think without the medication I would have had my little boy or got pregnant successfully again. All the best x Any questions don't hesitate to ask me.

i am sorry to hear about ur experience. i would suggest bedrest as much as possible in the first three months, take time off, bedrest after work, no lifting, no housework etc (i am told here by gp and consultants that there is no medical evidence proving that bedrest can reduce miscarriage but in asian societies this is very, very commonly adopted, whether u have bleeding or not) at least it helped in my case. also, if u dun mind trying, do regular acupuncture ( find a reputable traditional chinese medicine doctor not a self trained acupuncturist), or take chinese herbal medicine when you are trying to conceive again to balance ur body bringing it to the optimal condition. these are not common in the uk but i have to say this is believed to help in where i come from! :) probably worth a try, sometimes western medicine and tests cannot identify / treat every thing in the body. nothing to lose. i wish you all very best and my thoughts are with you :)
