Feeling too chubby at 21wks - SW support group / tips anyone?

I'm 21 weeks pregnant and feeling a bit miserable that i am expanding in all the wrong places. i think the good weather has made me feel more unattractive and flabby so i want to try and pull my socks up and get back on track with the healthy eating. my main aim is to keep weight gain to a minimum as i know how hard it can be to lose.

i did SW prior to getting pg, my memory is a little fuzzy however i have my books out and i'm trying to plan ahead for this week. my research tells me it's safe while pg on the EE plan, the only difference is to increase your Healthy Extras to 2xA and 2xB (please please please correct me if i'm wrong).

feel free to join me with any help / tips / recipes.

(i don't work for SW or anything like that, just wanting a bit of hand holding)

Hi Janie,
I am keen to join you!
Where did you find out that you can have 2 x a and 2 x b choices. I have the new books from this year as I was a member in January.
I thought it only increased when you are breast feeding.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 13/07/2013 10:58

hey jmf great to see you here! i googled the question and found this chat room thread community.babycentre.co.uk/post/a15279995/syns_whilst_pregnant ...apparently it used to be more HE when breastfeeding but has recently changed to when pg as well. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

I'll join you thinking of starting in a week or so when all the bad food is banished from the house!
I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and i was already big before pregnancy 16-18, and my waistline looks more like extra chub than the start of a preggo belly. My bmi is 38 so doing slimming world, if not to lose but maybe not gain anymore would be beneficial to me!

Don't think i will do the meetings but maybe just go it alone at home, goodluck jmf & janie. Hoping to start very soon Smile

pumpkinsweetie · 13/07/2013 12:29

2 HE is definetely more managable Wink

TinkyPeet · 13/07/2013 12:42

Yes you get 2 extra a's and b's on extra easy and it is safe to follow during your pregnancy just be fair to yourself, you know your own body, if you need an extra pint of milk in a day add it in, it won't do you any harm :) x

TinkyPeet · 13/07/2013 12:43

I meant 2 extra HE's, 1 a and 1 b

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 13/07/2013 12:56

thanks tinky good to know we're on the right tracks! going to go through all my books to remind myself of the good and bads and try to make a menu plan for next week. i'm looking forward to getting back on :)

Excellent- 2 makes it so much easier as I like a roll for lunch and cereal for breakfast!
Just need motivation and a kick up the backside- I don't want to spend the whole of my mat leave struggling to lose weight so would be good to put less on.

Rockchick1984 · 13/07/2013 15:03

Marking my place for 5 weeks time when I'll (hopefully) be second trimester and able to restrain from eating every carb I can get my grubby mitts on Grin

DS is 2.4, I'd never had to watch my weight previously then gained 5 stone having him Blush lost most of it through sw but still had about a stone to get back to a reasonable weight, 1.5 to get to pre pregnancy weight. Determined not to put myself through that again this time!!!

BumpKitty · 13/07/2013 15:18

Right, I'm in! You have inspired me janie but I also do not want to pay £5 a week to be told I'm getting fatter so I will try and find some willpower. I used this site slimming eats before and it was pretty good ( and free!)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 13/07/2013 17:24

Happy days! Lots of people on board. Yes I can't really afford to pay the fiver to get bad news.

This morning I was 13st11 Blush on my scales at home.... There I said it out loud aaaarrrggghhhh! But it's ok, Saturday morning will be my weigh in day (same as my old class) means you can at least enjoy a treat on Saturday night and know you have a week to do good again :)

What were you pre-pregnancy Janie? My class was Monday evenings - awful for me, no time to burn off the rubbish from the weekends Grin

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 13/07/2013 17:41

on my wedding day i was 11st11...my lowest ever. then i put on weight again and my pre pregnancy weight and my last visit to SW was 12st9 (i only did it for a short while becoming pg) so i've put on 1st2 since being pg. it feels like a lot more though.

been compiling some dinner ideas...

home made spag bol & salad (free)
home made chicken and veg fried rice (free)
steak and jacket potatoes and salad (free) (add some syns if i have coleslaw in baked spud)
roast chicken and lots of roast veggies and some baby boiled potatoes
SW chips and chicken/steak/pork chops and lots of veg

then for lunches at work i'll have to bring my own in as too much temptation from shops nearby!
salads / bulgar wheat salads / pasta salads / soup if the weather changes!!

Do extra veggies when you do your roast dinner, and do an omelette with them, leftover chicken, and a bit of grated cheese the next day :) perfect with a salad and syn free if you use cheese as HE!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 13/07/2013 18:04

Good thinking rock :)

And thanks for the slimming eats link bump, lots of good ideas there :) I sometimes think half the battle is thinking what to have!!

OP posts:
BumpKitty · 13/07/2013 19:50

yes the issue for me is definitely thinking what to have, and the thought of cooking from scratch when I get in from work.

Remind me, how many syns can we have? I will go and weigh myself in a bit Shock

I like the omelette idea, I used to do the SW 'quiche' with cottage cheese and that was good for lunches.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 13/07/2013 19:55

Bump as far as I know it's 5-15 syns per day.

I like the omelette idea too, simple is best for me! I used to love cooking but just went so off it! Batches are good, I'm going to make a spag Bol tmro I think and freeze some

I really want to join. I'm 21 weeks this week and weighed myself this morning, I've put 12lbs on since booking-in appointment.

I did WW pre-pregnancy and do plan to go back 6 weeks post birth ( they do a BF plan) but joined SW when I was about 10 weeks pregnant. I stopped going to class about 4 weeks ago as I was getting upset at gaining (although I totally expecting it and knew that was what was gonna happen but sitting in the class was upsetting me). So, I was meant to be doing it myself but our fridge/freezer has broken and hopefully being replaced soon so we're living with a very small camping fridge, and it's been so difficult to make anything from scratch.

I like that you can have 2a's & 2b's, I would have cereal for brekkie and either 2 alpen light bars later in the day, or use it on bread. 3 mini baby bel lights are an a choice, I really like them. I still eat lots of batchelors rice, as that's free.

I was advised to have 15 syns a day too Smile

BeQuicksieorBeDead · 14/07/2013 23:57

Good on you ladies. Dont be too harsh on yourself though, you are supposed to put weight on! Just the extra blood alone, but then the baby, placenta, fluid and water retention as well a pregnancy boobs!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 15/07/2013 10:02

hey 2labs! you're at the same stage as me. glad to hear 3 light babybels are 1 HExtra A!! they are going to be my saviour as i ween myself off extra mature cheddar!

starting today as had a big dinner bbq at my parents house yesterday so sadly it was impossible with what was on offer!

here goes!
