40 weeks today
Had a v exam and mw wrote :
Cx very posterior only just tipped
Feels tubular, softening pp 3-4cm ↑ ispies

She did talk to me about it but I couldn't concentrate and now don't really know what it means. Would really appreciate it if anyone could shed some light.

Thank you in advance. I want a cuddle with my baby!

Oops, after the 3-4 cm should be an upwards arrow.

so, your cervix is towards the back of your vagina, by 'tipped' she means she could only just reach it. 'tubular' means it has not started to efface, (a non laboring cervix is 2-3cm long and tube shaped - when it begins to efface it becomes shorter until it is paper thin). Your cervix is begining to soften (a non laboring cervix feels like the tip of your nose, a laboring cervix more like your lips).

by 'PP' i presume she means presenting part (so babys head) and i think she is referring to the fetal station (so -3 above spines - an internal landmark used to say where the PP is in the pelvis. This is a very high head) I am not 100 per cent she means this as i have never seen it written like this - and I have never seen a -4! but that is what i sounds like to me.

Hope that has helped.

Thank you ever so much. Did kind of hope that someone would say labour was imminent but I know that was wishful thinking.

It does help. Thank you :-)
