I tested positive for Group B Strep at my first midwife appointment (c.9 weeks) and subsequently developed the symptoms of it as common to most UTIs. My doctor put me on two different courses of antibiotics. Antibiotics have always worked for me before but this time neither course has helped me to shift the bug. I am now 12.5 weeks, I've had my dating scan, and the baby looks fine, but I am suffering with the UTI and my doctors don't know what to do with me. Has anybody else had a similar experience and/or some advice to share? I can't help worrying about how this might affect my unborn child. Many thanks.

Lower UTIs are a common pregnancy symptom unfortunately. Have you tried cranberry? Honestly I hate the stuff but if you buy the actual fruit (they do packs on the baking isle in tesco that are actually nice) they always worked for me.

Unfortunately I also suffer from chronic cystitis which is an inflammation of the bladder but without the infection part and it presents the same way. I found keeping my kidneys warm (hot water bottle at either side of me) and drinking cups of tea, depending how bad depends how many cups - most I think was 4. The heat and tea helps when I've a uti or just the usual cystitis, cranberry is for the infection.

Also take a couple of ibuprofen, it's an anti-inflammatory which will help ease the symptoms a little.

Hope this helps Thanks
