Pretty sure I'm not in labour, so what was this pain?

I'm 40+1 with DC2. Just randomly I started getting pain in the middle of my back and around the top half of my bump. (no pain in the cervix area) it lasted about 15 minutes and didn't ease up at all. Painful enough that I had to walk around. Anyone know what this could have been? Baby is still moving lots. It only happened about ten minutes ago so I guess I'll just have to wait and see if anything else happens.

BHs?

Any other symptoms (i.e. weeing a lot)?

It could be some severe heartburn if the baby is stretching upward and you haven't got much room around that area. But if you are sure it's actually where the baby is and not your chest, I'd get it looked at just in case as I'd have no idea what it was.

Does sound kind of labour-y but if you are sure it isn't, I don't know what else it could be.

No it was definitely bump area, not chest area. I'm 90% sure it's not labour as it feels nothing like what I had with DC1.

I've never had BHs though so I suppose it could be that? Although surely they don't last 15 minutes?

No other symptoms.

It could be contractions if it was on your bump. I had that the other day and it didn't go for about half an hour. Went in for observation with midwife who said I was having contractions. Maybe give your midwife a ring?

BHs are strange in that they don't tend to last any particular length of time really. So they could be a minute or half an hour.

I have heard (only had one baby so far so only heard from others) that people have different symptoms/labour feels different with different children dependant on the babies position, how far along they are and how relaxed they are etc.

Did you feel any mega kicks beforehand? The baby could've internally beat you up, perhaps?

If I get another one I'll ring the midwife. I'm getting worried now. I don't want to go through labour again! Bit late to change my mind now though, isn't it? Grin

Hopefully it was just BHs then. I haven't felt anything since and it was half an hour ago now.

That interesting about having different labours. I just assumed I'd feel the same sort of things I felt the first time round.

This might sound daft but what about trapped wind? That can manifest in lots of ways and isn't always easily identifiable. Just an alternative suggestion :)
