Hi all,

I am really suffering with constant nausea, vomiting and heartburn.

I have seen GP and he doesn't want to give me anything unless it gets to the stage where I can't keep water down. Sad

It has got to the stage that I am frightened of eating anything (am forcing myself) as the subsequent nausea and heartburn are horrendous.

So, my question, what did you eat/do to relieve your symptoms?

Thanks!!

I've been taking omeprazole since I was pregnant with my last baby. It totally eradicates the heartburn which would prob also help with the heartburn. It's safe in pregnancy, go back to the docs and ask for it by name. Don't take no for an answer I know loads of pregnant women who have taken it and its a total life saver!

Thanks fluff, I have been on lansoprozole for the last 6months due to unexplained gastritis, and they took me off it when I got my BFP. My research shows however that I should have been put on omeprozole so going to go back and insist on it, as heartburn is only going to get worse, and and lack of heartburn will def help with the nausea!

I could hardly eat anything the first 12 weeks, basically just ate breadsticks and boiled sweets. If you try not to have an empty stomach it helps keep the nausea at bay (difficult when throwing up I know!). Also if you can stomach it (DH can't lol) I sipped a small glass of milk and that stopped me throwing up when I thought I might, still does actually. When I got fed up of that I occasionally had a cup of tea and biscuits, helped keep sugars up.

Now 20 weeks, a lot less nausea but still eating very little due to none existent appetite all of a sudden, but at least no nasty sick!

Good luck, hope you feel better soon SmileThanks

Thanks champagne and chillis.

Boiled sweets do help, foxes glacier mints and fruits on offer in sainsburys! But then I get a horrid taste in my mouth after!

Glad to hear it gets better chillis! Might try the milk, perhaps with a bit of nesquik!

First time around boiled sweets would help (cant eat them now though - brings back that morning sickness feeling!) Second pregnancy nothing worked, was admitted to hospital as couldnt keep anything down and was on antisickness tablets until 22weeks.... just have to think you wont be pregnant forever and you will get through it but i have massive sympathy for you.

ThreeEyedRaven · 11/07/2013 13:20

There are a number of anti sickness drugs that are perfectly safe for use in pregnancy.

Prochloperazine is the only reason I function!!

Ice cold drinks, lemonade helped me or full fat coke.

Salt and vinegar crisps are items of beauty. They were the only things that made me feel better or even stayed down.

Jacket potato with butter was another good thing for me.

Haribo tangfastics

I basically just ate a shit load of junk food and it made me feel slightly less like death. Just make sure you keep your fluids up, especially in this weather.

Beccadugs · 11/07/2013 15:24

The boiled sweets sadly really set off my heart burn! All sugary things do really!

Hopefully now I'm back on the omeprozole that will get sorted out!

I second salt and vinegar crisps and cyclyzine

Beccadugs · 11/07/2013 16:31

I do love salt and vinegar crisps, but agin heartburn city that way lies. Hopefully once the heartburn is a bit more sorted I will be able to try these great suggestions with confidence!

I found carbs did the trick for me, ready salted crisps, white bread and lots of pasta.

I steered well clear of any kind of fruit for a long while!! The other thing I did was to have something to eat in my bedside table as getting out of bed on an empty stomach made it loads worse!

I second the full fat coke but I had to let it go flat first the fizz was too much on my tummy.

Soda water, Gaviscon, biscuits and sleep...lots an lots of sleep. Also Salt and Vinegar crisps! I had an unreal craving for them when I was being sick.
