14 weeks with twins and worried

I keep moaning to everyone about the pain I'm experiencing in my left side.

It's not bad to the point where I'm crying. But it's really annoying. I don't want to keep ringing my midwife with these stupid questions and I honestly feel like an idiot asking. This is my first pregnancy and I'm absolutely terrified. So if anyone knows what this is, please put my mind at ease.

ALSO (I know I waffle I do apologise) can twin pregnancies go full term? I'm really really small, everyone keeps saying to me I'll probably get induced around 32 weeks. Do a lot of people?

I feel so unprepared ahhhhh!

Sorry that you're having such a difficult time, Lulu. It's probably nothing abnormal, but you really should call your midwife if the pain is that bad. She will be able to check you over and reassure you all's ok. xx

I had my twins induced at 38 wks, which is standard at our hospital. I think that on average, most twins are born at 37 wks, so I'm not sure where the 32 wks has come from, sounds v early to me.

I'm not huge either, 5'3" and size 10 / 12, but managed to produce two decent sized twins, 7lbs3oz and 5lbs7oz respectively.

Don't feel an idiot calling your midwife. It probably is nothing, but that's what they are there for and you probably should be checked out.

A twin pregnancy is so daunting, go easy on yourself and ask for help when you need it. Best of luck.

@frutilla Thank you. It feels like growing pains. But I will definitely give her a call. I'm just a big bag of nerves xx

@Jojay That's put my mind at ease a bit. I did think 32 was a bit too early. Well I'm 5'7 and size 6, so I'm just worried I'm not big enough. I feel like a wilderbeast already and still a long way to go haha. Thank you x

Sorry @Jojay did you find out the sex of your twins? If so, how many weeks? x

Ahh lulu I had these do they feel like stretching alnosy burning type. Mine was stretching pains and obviously with two growing they might be a little extreme, buy always get checked you really aren't wasting anyone's. Time.

I think it depends on what kind of twins you have I have identical so I was told I could only go to 36 weeks. I had a elc. Iasted full term in term of twins, my Singleton before was early.

Good luck and enjoy

I had awful period type cramps and pains until just after 20w with my dcda twins. I was convinced I was miscarrying constantly. They've settled down now (30w) apart from stretching skin pain and a numb bump!

You'll get to a point when you realise what's normal for you and your twin pregnancy - for me that was awful aching and cramps. Ironically, I worry sometimes that I don't have them now!!

harrygracejessica · 03/07/2013 22:55

Twins are usually (if not here before) delivered at 37 or 38 weeks unless they are identical mo mo ones then its normally earlier due to risks.

Congratulations!

I had a lot of aches and pains during my twin pregnancy. The worst for me was my pelvic bone and my hips.

My consultant planned to induce me at 38 weeks, I had them very unexpectedly at 34 week by EMCS.

legallyblond · 03/07/2013 23:18

Are your twins DCDA? If not (ie if they share a placenta or a placenta and sac) they will induce /elcs you before 37/38 weeks. I am 27+5 with DCDA twins and 37-8 weeks us the goal... But as I say, you wouldn't go that late if they are not DCDA...
