Measuring slightly small at 24 weeks

Hello all,

I'm just back from my 24 week midwife appointment.

I've got a very tiny bump, and am still easily able to hide the pregnancy from people who don't know, it's not at all obvious.

I mentioned this to the midwife as she measured me (she was covering for the normal midwife who I've not yet seen) and she said, 'oh yes, you are measuring slightly small'

The measurement was 22cm so a couple of weeks behind, I'm not sure she would even have mentioned it had I not have said I was a bit concerned. The 20 week scan was all complete normal and measurements were nicely average.

She said they would check again at 28 weeks and send me for a scan if still measuring behind, but 4 weeks is a long time left to worry.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and can reassure me?

With both my pregnancies I didn't show properly until about 26 weeks. My first was a 3 weeks early and 5ibs 9 ounces but would've been about 6ibs if a few weeks later, and this one is predicted to be the same. The consultant sent me for a scan as I was measuring small. The lady who did the scan explained that baby was actually measuring normally (maybe a little more petite than some babies) but because I'm longer torsoed the baby is spread out more whereas if you're shorter torsoed the baby is more scrunched up which of course means you're going to be more front. I also had lower amniotic fluid which contributed to size of my bump.

All in all, it hasn't affected the health of my son and this one im carrying now has shown no problems either.
