Morning sickness - when did yours start?

I'm five weeks pregnant with my first and was just wondering when other people began experiencing morning sickness, if at all? I've been feeling mildly queasy for the past week since I found out (husband says its psychosomatic) but nothing too bad yet. I have the sore boobs and mild stomach cramps, just looking for some reassurance that its all normal I think!

7wks and been feeling like death since 5 and a half weeks. Some puking but tbh it's almost as bad just feeling deeply nauseous all day, literally all day. Can't eat much. I have tried everything and the star finds so far have been: fizzy cola bottles, tonic water (recommended by MW) in sips, digestive biccies, weetabix and avoiding tea and coffee and any spicy/smelly food.
It does make you feel miserable, and mine came on very gradually. I hope you manage to avoid it but if you don't eat little and often and rest lots x Smile

Mine started at 6 weeks and ended at 12. The relief when I woke up and felt normal again!

I haven't had any so far and I am 12 weeks! Think it's a genetic thing for me though as my mum didn't get any either with both me and my sister, so pretty lucky.

From 6 to about 15 weeks. Never vomited but just horrible nausea that only eating took the edge off. 'twas crap but like labour something you completely forget!

ceara · 03/07/2013 07:35

I'm 11 weeks on Friday and still haven't been sick. I started minor nausea and dry retching - in the evenings only - at 7 weeks, which is continuing but honestly very minor. I have had three early scans (ivf pregnancy), the most recent just yesterday) so there is definitely something in there despite the lack of major pregnancy symptoms!

You hear so much about morning sickness that the expectation is of becoming horribly ill from about the sixth week, if not before, and I know my lack of symptoms sent me crazy in the first few weeks. However, the NHS website reassuringly notes that only 5 out of 10 women are sick and another 2 get nausea without vomiting. That leaves 3 out of 10 pregnant people ie one third of pregnancies, blessedly sickness free throughout.

Hi OP congratulations!
And don't worry there is no correlation on morning sickness & outcomes.
It appears to be random.

I had HG from week 10 to 16.
Thank your lucky stars if you don't get it!

MirandaWest · 03/07/2013 07:38

From about 6 weeks to 12 weeks with both pregnancies and full on being sick with both of them. DS was 13 months when I got pg and he didn't seem traumatised by seeing mummy with her head down the toilet bowl yet again. Probably easier that he was younger if that makes sense.

Cheeseatmidnight · 03/07/2013 07:39

I have evening sickness for 3 weeks 6-9 weeks roughly

BonaDea · 03/07/2013 07:41

Never had any!

kjh5 · 03/07/2013 11:14

Wow - thanksMNetters, 6 weeks seems to be the turning point! My mum had dreadful MS, so I am wondering if it runs in the family. The nausea has been getting worse and I am now 5+4... although I am on holiday next week for a family wedding, so I hope it won't be too bad by then!

Week 4 for me Sad

DrMcDreamysWife · 03/07/2013 11:18

Started feeling sick at what turned out to be 3 weeks pregnant. Didn't do a test till 6 weeks as wasn't expecting it. Was sick until about 18 weeks. Around 8-12 weeks was the worst, lying on the floor feeling like I would die as I threw everything up all day and night.

Enjoy!! My dd is now almost 10 months and the sickness was worth it, she's amazing!

Teaandflapjacks · 03/07/2013 11:24

about 3 weeks (BFP) to now - 35 weeks. But its has gone down to about once a week now (yay!). At one stage I was nearly put in hospital with it - and S&V pringles saved my life!! I still crave salt, like marmite on toast, and i do sprinkle salt on buttered bread too Grin. Can't think it is that healthy per se, but checked with my Gyn. who said my body is craving lost salts.

DrMcDreamysWife · 03/07/2013 11:40

Definitely runs in my family. My mum, sister and me all suffered. Whereas so many of my colleagues had no sickness at all!

ceara · 03/07/2013 12:13

Anecdotally there seems to be something in the idea of a genetic element in morning sickness. My mum didn't get morning sickness either, just occasional mild retchiness at particular smells, exactly as I am experiencing.

Though I know people who have had morning sickness in one pregnancy and nothing in the next, so it can also be pretty random.

Hope it doesn't strike too badly or too soon, OP.
